Is Joseph a bit dull/boring?

Hi, we had sort of decided on Joseph for our DS due in next few weeks. We don’t mind if it gets shortened to Joe as like that too! However, I’m now having some second thoughts, a friend said she thought it was a bit dull and there are lots of Josephs/Joes. I do know quite a few older men with the name but few children. There are none in my other DS’s class or our wider circle of friends. We do like Oliver and Tom too but they’re very popular around our area. Would be interested in your honest opinions before we choose. Is Joseph a bit ‘meh’?

I prefer Jose

That is Spanish for Joseph!

It's a great name. Josef, Giuseppe, Yosif, Yusef. The Joseph I know very much enjoys these variations.

It’s a classic imo. One of those names that I can never see going out of fashion. I know people of all age called Joseph/f.

I like Joseph and all it short forms! The youngest one I know is about 14, so I don't think a new baby called Joseph now is going to be plagued with unwanted namesakes.

what about Josiah?

Another Joe name I have never seen/heard people use or consider is Joash. I have always liked it. It's Biblical, a King of Judah. So are Joab, Joah, Josias. Jovan and Jovian are nice. Judah itself is a name, if you like Jude. You might like James, Nicholas, Solomon, or David, Finley, Samuel, Elliot, Sebastian, or Alexander.

I have a Joseph and I love it. Classic rather than dull. I’d much rather that than some made up celebrity name just for the sake of being different, personally.
