How many baby Asher's do you know?

Baby boy is due in a few weeks and after really struggling to find a name DH and I both like we thought we were finally settled on Asher (middle name will be Jack) but we've now found out Asher was apparently the most popular boys name of 2017 Confused

We had no idea the name had become so popular. DH thinks we should use it anyway but I was one of five girls in my class at school with the same name and hated it so I'm having a wobble.

So what do you think? Is it too popular? Should we go back to the drawing board?

In the spirit of cake related bigotry can I suggest Bert or Ernie...?

I know one and he's not a baby - about 17, I think. Not one I've heard much in the UK. When we lived in US there were more. Never met one who was not Jewish. Not that that makes any difference to anything.

I knew one as a child. He was an old man. This was the early 70s.

I knew a woman once called Asher.

After knowing her I wouldn't call my kid Asher.

I'm an Asha, aged 32! I'm British and mixed ethnicity. I live in south of England. I've heard of a few Asha's/Asher's but less than a handful. I also work with children.

I may be bias, but good, solid name 👍🏽

I haven't heard of, or ever met, any Ashers at all. I tried to persuade DH with Asher when naming DS1 and DS2 but sadly he wasn't convinced. Gorgeous name with a lovely meaning. Asher Jack is fantastic.
