I like it, but it's a bit cutesy.

LaPufalina · 25/08/2018 19:29

I like it Smile

Flamingosnbears · 25/08/2018 19:56

It's your choice at the end of the day if you love it go for it!

PortsmouthNH · 25/08/2018 20:05

I love Mollie, and like Holly, but I just don't like Polly.

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 25/08/2018 20:12

I adore it. But I also have the universally hated Poppy (she is 14)

BasilFaulty · 25/08/2018 20:28

Thank you all! Wine

It's weird isn't it how one name has such different connotations for people.

Love the name Polly! Really beautiful and not heard very often

Mossend · 25/08/2018 21:01

I like it. Also like Penny

SendYouUpInFlames · 25/08/2018 21:05

I do really like it,

But it reminds me of "Mrs Polly had a dolly"

Or if I headed someone shouting "Polly, Polly" I would instantly think they're shouting a budgie.

Geordiegirl1988 · 25/08/2018 21:09

I love polly . Gorgeous name

IVflytrap · 25/08/2018 21:13

It's OK. I prefer Molly.

Ingalia · 25/08/2018 21:19

I've always liked it and wondered why there are so few Pollys when there are so very many Hollys and Mollys.

RavenWings · 25/08/2018 21:44

I think it's awful. Twee, weak and cutesy.

TheDowagerCuntess · 25/08/2018 21:47

Not to my taste. Lacks substance.

Quangot · 25/08/2018 22:00

Twee and a bit odd.

RedDwarves · 25/08/2018 22:19

I love Polly.

Greeneyedgeek83 · 25/08/2018 22:38

Dreadful imo all I think of is pocket and put the kettle on. Very babyish. Can't see an adult Polly at all.

Picknickers · 25/08/2018 22:50

My adult bf was Polly. She was strong clever and very funny. Sadly no longer with us but a great girl.

Ihuntmonsters · 25/08/2018 22:50

A family friend is called Polly, all grown up now and hasn't changed it so I'm guessing it works for her. I think Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf, although Pretty Polly and Polly put the kettle on do come to mind too.

Sophronia · 25/08/2018 23:13

Very twee,

Polestar50 · 26/08/2018 03:12

I like it. Makes me think of a homespun, patchwork quilt type of person but is less cutesy than the Daisy/Maisies.

The test for cute sounding names is imagining them in a highly professional context ‘Finance Director, Polly Smith’ sounds ok to me. ‘Daisy Smith’ less so.

DeadDoorpost · 26/08/2018 03:15

Do you like the name because it's in Fawlty Towers? Judging by your username....

HollyBen · 26/08/2018 03:25

I like it. I worked with a Polly years ago whose name was Pauline

Sophronia · 26/08/2018 03:35

I’d use it as a nickname for something else...Polina, Paulina, Apollonia, Apolline...

Veterinari · 26/08/2018 03:54

I like it.

I’d love to know how it evolved from Mary!
