Our girl's list

We have boy names pretty much sorted (our top four are Elias Rafferty, Elias Rowan, Elijah Rowan & Zachary Tadhg) but we're struggling with girl's names. Here's our list...

First names: Beatrix, Cecily, Felicity, Florence, Imogen, Margot, Penelope & Phoebe.

Middles: Aine, Aisling, Brigid, Caoimhe, Cara, Cliona, Eilis, Eimear, Erin, Oona/Una, Orla(ith), Roisin, Saoirse & Sorcha

We have a few combos in mind but are starting to draw blanks now. We'd love an outsider's perspective or suggestions. All our LO's have Irish middle names - Caitlin, Fionn & Niamh (DH is Irish) so we want to keep in with the 'theme'.

*These two are still maybes on our list but best to brainstorm. TIA!

Have to vote for Phoebe because it's my wee ones name, I've absolutely loved it since years before we even started trying. Just love it. Not sure on the middle names, Phoebe Aine? Not really sure how that's pronounced though lol

Peachbubble · 14/08/2018 20:08

I like Felicity and Margot from your first names list and Cara, Erin, Oona and Roisin for middle names.

pixieloux · 14/08/2018 20:14

Sorry, I should have written out the pronunications! Here you go... Aine (Awn-ya), Aisling (Ash-Ling), Brigid (Breedj), Caoimhe (Kwee-va), Cara, Cliona (Clee-Uh-Na), Eilis (Eye-Leesh), Eimear (Ee-Mer), Erin, Oona/Una, Orla(ith) Roisin (Ro-Sheen), Saoirse (Seer-Sha) & Sorcha (Surk-Ha) ... Mind you I'm terrible at writing out how they actually sound - would've been better getting DH to do it lol.

We've got Beatrix Aine, Aisling or Roisin, Cecily Brigid, Florence Cliona, Margot Cliona, Penelope Brigid or Roisin - maybe Rois (Rosh)? & Phoebe Cliona so far but I would be very grateful to have some combos chucked at me! Thanks!

@ReginaPhalange89 Your the reason Phoebe is on the list Smile DH loves it... Reminds him of Friends (Phoebe is his favourite lol)

My favourites are Imogen and Penelope as I think they go best with your existing DC names. Love love love Cara as a middle name.

pixieloux · 14/08/2018 20:26

@Cherubfish Thanks Smile Caitlin, Fionn & Niamh are their middle names... My orderly ways wouldn't be able to have non Irish first names this time round if they were their firsts lol.

Haha@pixieloux I love friends (and Phoebe!) too, hence my username . People often ask if I named her after Phoebe from friends but I actually just love the name 😂

pilates · 14/08/2018 20:29

Imogen Roisin is beautiful

butlerswharf · 14/08/2018 20:31

Margot Erin

pixieloux · 14/08/2018 21:07

@ReginaPhalange89 I think we'll probably get asked that too, if we go for Phoebe, as we love Friends (who doesn't? lol) but we're used to getting asked if we're fans of something as DD1 is Aurora lol.

Not Beatrix or Margot. Ugly names, sorry.

BertrandRussell · 14/08/2018 21:10

Cecily Aisling (except in my family it's spelled Aislinn) is lovely.

HairyToity · 14/08/2018 21:11

Love the names Margot and Beatrix.

Passmethecrisps · 14/08/2018 21:19

My word you have EXCELLENT taste in names. We have two daughters with names from your list and two other names were our standbys.

Nothing to say other than complement your excellent taste

Sessy19 · 14/08/2018 21:45

Penelope Aine.

Penelope is the only name on your list for me (personal taste 😬), but I love an Irish name. The syllable count in Penelope needs a shorter middle name I think...

Sessy19 · 14/08/2018 21:49

Or maybe Penelope Cara...?

LucyMD · 14/08/2018 21:49

Love your taste in names! All fab! My particular favourites from your list are Beatrix, Florence, Imogen, Penelope & Phoebe Smile

pixieloux · 14/08/2018 21:50

@Passmethecrisps Thank you... Your girls have beautiful names WinkSmile

pixieloux · 14/08/2018 21:52

@Sessy19 - Yeah, were trying to find a balance... felicity & Penelope will need shorter middles and Florence Margot & Phoebe will probably need a 3/4 syllable middle. We're thinking about Rois (Rosh) instead of Roisin for Penelope too.

Phoebe Orla or Beatrix Orla
mainly because I have an Orla, who was going to be Beatrix, but it just seemed too big a name for a tiny baby when she arrived (it is her middle name) and I also have a Phoebe! Although I also love Aine and Roisin as middle names.

Penelope and Margot were on my shortlist too. They are all great names really (I’m not a lot of help here).

DollyDayScream · 14/08/2018 22:05

Phoebe Cara

justme28 · 14/08/2018 22:05

Just wanted to save that I love every one of the names. My daughters called Niamh and I, like you, will definitely be sticking with the Irish names for my next baby.

junebirthdaygirl · 14/08/2018 23:21

I wouldn't go for Beatrix with an lrish name after it as there are no xs in lrish so it looks a bit strange. But that might only be me as an lrish speaker.
Cara means friend in lrish and its a beautiful name. Aine is lrish for Anne.
So maybe Felicity Cara
Imogen Aine

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/08/2018 23:26

I love Cara Roisin.💕

SnowyAlps · 14/08/2018 23:32

I love Caoimhe and Elijah
