Found out that my baby is going to be a beautiful little girl💖 had my mind set on a name and now all of a sudden my mind has changed and I absolutely love WINTER with the middle name either Violet or Blossom (both have family history so please no nasty comments about the middle names) I love it but I don't know how other people will react , opinions please xxxx

I'm not a huge fan of Winter but that's just a question of taste. I do think it's problematic to have more than one name which is a regular word in English, so for that reason I don't think Wintee works with either of your middle names. My opinion would be the same if your surname was a regular word either - so Winter Hunt or Winter Baker sound as ill-advised as Winter Blossom Jones or Winter Violet Sullivan.

If you choose those middle names, then I think they work best with a first name that can only be a name, not another word.

RavenWings · 12/08/2018 18:02

That's very true. A Winter Evangeline or Winter Anneliese sounds better than Winter Violet or Winter Blossom. Candle scents as a pp mentioned are very accurate!

I think a different first name with Blossom or Violet is best. I personally like Winona Violet.

BakedBeans47 · 12/08/2018 18:04

Winter is OK but I agree it’s not good with the middle names you’ve picked.

rainingcatsanddog · 12/08/2018 18:08

Sycamore - they are apparently 5 Game of Thrones spinoffs in the world (one has been green lit for a pilot episode) . If any are as successful as the original, Winter is Coming may be around for a while.

SequinsOnEverything · 12/08/2018 18:10

I really like it. Don't like winter violet, but I do like winter blossom. I so like summer and Autumn as names as well though, so I guess I just like seasons names.

ReevaDiva · 12/08/2018 18:10

I think it's cool.

Winnie is fucking awful though!

liquidrevolution · 12/08/2018 18:15

Will your baby be born in winter? I know a december born summer and i confess to being a bit Confused Hmm

I like it though. Just not for a non winter baby.

Cittadineve · 12/08/2018 18:17

WInnie 🤮

Winter is fine but the combinations of Winter Violet and Winter Blossom are both the ridiculous. As pp said they sound like paint names.

If you ask for strangers opinions on the internet don’t expect them to sugar coat it.

AgathaRaisonDetra · 12/08/2018 18:24

Where do you live?

In Hull she will be WinTOE
In Essex she will be Win'ARR
In London she will be Winner

kenandbarbie · 12/08/2018 19:36

I prefer your middle name choices to winter. As others have said the combo is too paint colour sounding. Violet winter is nice though.

LucyFox · 12/08/2018 20:00

I like Winter but not with the middle names you have chosen
Violet Blossom would be lovely or Winter with a different name - a more “common” name like Winter Marie or Winter Alice or Winter Elizabeth or Winter Catherine

PennyGH · 12/08/2018 20:22

I love Winter but do agree that it needs a more traditional middle name. As you’re set on Blossom or Violet as middle names (both great names, by the way) then I think the combo might not work. But it’s not terrible. If you like it, use it! How often do we say our first and middle names together anyway?

I love Winnie as a nickname, too. Winona is pretty as an alternative first name.

rainingcatsanddog · 12/08/2018 20:25

If you called her Winter Blossom and I knew you, I'd buy this as a gift after she arrived

MrsRyanGosling15 · 12/08/2018 20:45

I absolutely love that name. I don't think cold, dark and bleak when I hear winter. It's my favourite season. Love both middle names with it.

raviolidreaming · 12/08/2018 21:41

What's the sur name? Or give a sur name with a similar pattern. ie, if it's wilson say robson. If it's Stone say Stack

I can't work out what this is meant to mean.
OP presumably can't change the surname and I can't see what difference it makes 🤔

Belindabauer · 12/08/2018 21:43

I agree about it being paired with names that aren't actual things.
So Winter Jones = fine.
Winter Baker = no. In my opinion.
Also I wouldn't use it unless your baby was born in Winter.

Pompom42 · 12/08/2018 21:47

I like it but only if they will be born in the Winter. It would be weird if they are a spring baby and you call her that

YaLoVeras · 12/08/2018 21:53

@raviolidreaming, you cannot work out what my post means?! Confused

Ok, I assume that all OPs want to protect their anonymity, so although I"d like to know the sur name, I don't expect her to tell us. However, if her sur name is Baker and she gives us the sur name Barker or Harper or Parker or Cooper, then it will flow in the same way.

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 12/08/2018 21:53

No, just no. Pick an actual name. Your cute little baby will turn into an adult that has to apply for jobs and will be judged.

thereareflowersinmygarden · 12/08/2018 21:54

Winter Violet sounds like a porn name

Lynne1Cat · 12/08/2018 21:55

Why not? If you like it, have it.

My grandchildren are ALEXIA AUTUMN and ELYZA SUMMER

haribosmarties · 12/08/2018 21:56

I think its lovely and also love both middle names.

raviolidreaming · 12/08/2018 22:06

@YaLoVeras - thank you! My brain was stuck on giving the baby a surname! 🙈 Makes perfect sense now... and probably always did to everyone else Smile

rainingcatsanddog · 12/08/2018 22:09

Winter Parker (Winter Parka) would be an unfortunate combo

YaLoVeras · 12/08/2018 22:12

@raviolidreaming Grin Wine

ha ha lol at winter Parker! I didn't even think of that as I typed it.
