Juniper, Dusty or Vivienne?

Hello all,

DH and I have completely opposite ideas when it comes to baby names. After not being able to pick a single name we agree on, he picked DD1 and it’s on me for imminent DD2. It’s down to three - Juniper, Dusty or Vivienne. I like them all a lot but there’s no single name that has blown me away and I’m sick of dithering.

Thoughts please?

Love juniper and Vivienne

shouldawoulda99 · 25/07/2018 18:58

What? Dusty???

Sunnybeachbabe · 25/07/2018 19:11

Juniper is lovely!
Vivienne is too fussy for me.
Dusty??? Confused I guess you're thinking Springfield but... no!!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 25/07/2018 19:17

I knew a Dusty once

She lived next door, in a little cage decorated with toilet tubes, a water bottle, some hay and a little wheel

BellMcEnd · 25/07/2018 19:19

I like Juniper. Dusty is awful. Please don’t call your child that! Not keen on Vivienne - it fussy and affected (imo).

ProfessorMoody · 25/07/2018 19:19

I went to naice private school with a very posh Dusty. Really suited them.

villainousbroodmare · 25/07/2018 19:40

Dusty is a really cute nickname though.

DeltaFlyer · 25/07/2018 19:44

I like Vivienne.
Juniper is a bit out there for me but still nice.
My cat is called Dusty so I wouldn't recommend that

BoyInTheOven · 25/07/2018 19:45

I think it would depend on what your dd1 is called... Sarah and Dusty wouldn't be quite fair I don't think.

Out of the three I like Vivienne the best

bookworm14 · 25/07/2018 19:47

Dusty is AWFUL. Vivienne is beautiful - please use that.

DamsonPie · 25/07/2018 19:49

Vivienne is the only decent name. Dusty is weird. Like Dusty Bin from that telly show!

IKnowItsTIMHONKSTIMHONKS · 25/07/2018 19:56

Yep, dusty bin! Although kids would be too young to know who that is, I'm not even sure how I know who that is!

Vivienne is a lovely name

Quangot · 25/07/2018 21:41

I like Juniper best.

CarlyJayne1987 · 25/07/2018 21:43

Vivienne!

love that name

Spellitforme · 25/07/2018 21:47

I know a Juniper she gets called Junie which isn't that nice imo. Dusty well you're setting her up to be teased plus ' Dusty bin'from years ago will rear its head google it if yr not aware. Vivienne is lovely but is bound to get shortened to Viv.

ErrantBakedBean · 25/07/2018 21:54

Agree with above that it partly depends on your other dd's name. I think all your choices are lovely and the responses here do make me wonder about the demographic on these boards - a few worries that aren't relevant to my generation, let alone the next. Vivienne seems to be increasingly popular, if that bothers you. Also I would love to use Juniper myself but can't due to stupid surname! Use it for me Wink

SequinsOnEverything · 25/07/2018 21:57

Dusty is probably the worst name I have ever seen anyone consider on here.

Juniper is good, Vivienne is ok. Makes me think of pretty woman. It sounds like juniper fits with what you want from a name.

Pemba · 25/07/2018 21:59

Well Dusty just means.... dusty, aside from any 1980s TV dusty bins. Not a very positive meaning for a name, I would have thought, (most names have positive associations) and a bit odd. In spite of Dusty Springfield.

MeltingSnowflake · 25/07/2018 22:01

I love Juniper - it's on my list too!

Plsbemyturn · 25/07/2018 22:01

"Juniper" will remind a lot of technies a company...

Cosmoa · 25/07/2018 22:02

Juniper is uncommon enough that you can let go of Dusty... Surely!

I just can't get over the fact that's it's a negative word. Like... "Ugh it's so dusty in here! Clean up will ya!"

RedDwarves · 25/07/2018 22:07

Juniper is my favourite - though I prefer Juno.

Vivienne is my least favourite.

I don't dislike Dusty as much as others on this thread, but I do think it's quite American. I happen to like American-style names (not the recent trend of made up names, but older names like Wyatt, Dallas etc), but am not surprised that a mostly British group of people don't like it.

Bouncingbelle · 25/07/2018 23:10

Dusty bin. It's awful.also sounds more like it should be a boys (unfortunate) name.
Juniper - not my first choice but I've heard worse.
Vivienne - love this mainly because I,ve always loved. Vivi and viva as nicknames.

LuluJakey1 · 25/07/2018 23:13

I love Vivienne. We had it in our top 3 for DD. Dusty will date terribly but is quite sweet for a little girl. My cousin Deirdre (Irish) was called Dusty as a child.I don't like Juniper at all but I knew a Juniper which has put me off it.
