I love this name! Feedback from two friends one adores it and jealous she didn't think of it, the other happens to have it as middle name for daughter so also a fan. I'm scared to share with my sisters or mum in case they don't like it that will bother me, happy to take opinions from strangers without being offended :)
Daphne means Laurel tree, has ties to freshwater (i love nature) daphne du maurier one of my favourite authors and happened to be reading Rebecca and watching lots of Frasier (Daphne Moon) in first 3 months of pregnancy. I like that she's unlikely to meet any or many Daphne's I think it's a beautiful name but worry about her hating it. Re nicknames I think Daffy is quite cute but not a fan of Daff but I think Daff is inevitable!

I think I like it. I do like it, but wouldnt want to be called it myself (which is usually my test of a name!). But you obviously love it, so do it! Who cares if it isnt in fashion at the moment! Makes it more appealing to me.

I think it's lovely. But I have a dd with another name from Greek mythology so I might be biased!

Nope

Absolutely love it, it would have been my choice if I had ever had a girl. It is so much more classic than Scooby Doo!

I used to fantasise about twins called Daphne and Juliet.

I really don't normally like old names making a come back..

However I think Daphne is actually really beautiful and cute! And will suit her at all ages of her life 😊 good choice OP!

83 born in 2016, looks like it's gaining in popularity but still unusual.

Just a thought but Joe Grundy's ferret is called Daphne.

WhipItGood · 22/07/2018 10:57

I immediately associate it with Jack Lemmon in Some Like It Hot. Which is brilliant on many levels but probably not in the way that is wanted for this.

It’s a joke name from the 30s. Daphne is a geeky jolly hockeysticks schoolgirl with glasses and wiry hair.

ooobisto · 22/07/2018 12:18

Sorry but really can't picture it on a baby!

Pressuredrip · 22/07/2018 12:19

It was on my lists for mine and people used to laugh. Don't tell anyone before baby is born! Fab name.

Love it. I know a very glamorous 90-year old Daphne who was a model way back when and is still so chic today. Her mother was Olive and she had lots of sisters, among them Cicely, Dorothy and Iris - so all names that are really coming back in now. Her nickname is Daffs or Daffers which she carries off so well. Gorgeous name

daisypond · 22/07/2018 16:47

I think it's already on the way back. At least, I know three baby and toddler Daphnes.
