I am expecting our second and I really like the name Percy. With my DS we didn't tell anyone the names we were thinking of (Arthur) and people seemed to accept it (though I was told later they were unsure when they first heard it).
I have been met with very odd facial expressions when I mention Percy. I thought it was cute! No one seems to like it and my DM says it's a nickname for a penis??!
What do you think?

Sorry

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/07/2018 22:44

Sorry it's dreadful.

craftymum01 · 14/07/2018 22:45

That's what DM said too @Mxyzptlk but it's not exactly a common phrase these days

Would you want to be called Percy??

Charm23 · 14/07/2018 22:47

I don't like it that much either but I've heard worse. Plus, it reminds me of the character from Harry Potter who was not a nice character. On a positive note, it goes well with Arthur.

PancakesAndMapleSyrup · 14/07/2018 22:47

I dont like it at all tbh. Immediate thought is Percy pig, and that he will be the butt of many future jokes BUT who cares, if you like it go with it.

loveisenough · 14/07/2018 22:49

Not overly keen on Percy.
How about Stanley?

Redteapot67 · 14/07/2018 22:49

Sorry don’t like it either. It’s not cute really.
I think of Percy pigs.
Pearce is nicer

Patrick is nice if you like p names
Charlie or Samuel would go well with Arthur

craftymum01 · 14/07/2018 22:50

Hmm forgot about Percy Pigs.

Unfortunately I can.t go with it as DH hates it. I was just wondering if they were overreacting to it. I seems to be the general consensus however,

We have an Eric and are thinking Stanley if we have another boy

craftymum01 · 14/07/2018 23:01

Stanley is a cute name. and not one you hear much these days. In a way I am hoping we have a girl as that name is set in stone.

Our old French teacher was called Percy.

We said Merci Percy constantly. Poor man must have hated us.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 14/07/2018 23:05

I like it. I think of Percy Thrower and Percy Byssche Shelley. A friend has just had a Stanley - she also has an Albert.

PippilottaLongstocking · 14/07/2018 23:06

I think it’s nice myself

Redteapot67 · 14/07/2018 23:07
