What are your thoughts on Eugene for a boy?

Not a fan. It's up there with Eustace which is another name I really don't like.

Hate everything about it - the sound, the meaning, the way it looks.

Gene sounds and looks better, Edmund is OK.

I like it because I'm quite fond of the Pink Martini song "Hey, Eugene."

It's a difficult one to pull off. I wouldn't go there. Egon is a related form, more common in central Europe. I think that's better.
