Seen this somewhere else before and it threw out some brilliant names and unusual choices so....

Lorenzo, Delilah, Margarita, and if I were Muslim I would call my son Mustafa. Love that name

Catbot · 29/05/2018 20:14

I was having a Phineas or a Cosmo. Settled for a Thomas 😄

RoystonVaseySmegHead · 29/05/2018 20:49

Arlo/ aloysius/ koda for a boy. Effie/ winter/ lilo/ leilani for a girl. In the end we chose James Grin

Bigx · 30/05/2018 00:08

Why does the name Atticus come up so much? Why is it a name people aren't brave enough for. I know a Cornelius, called Corney for short

Loads!

Quite a few mythological names - Antigone, Niobe, Ganymede, Artemis, Nyx, Andromeda, Icarus

Hamish & Ailsa – I’m not Scottish

Emrys – I’m not Welsh

Sansa, Cersei, Tyrion, & Nymeria - I’m not a character in Game of Thrones

A few 'Marmite' names that I’d be worried about my child hating – Myrtle, Hester, Dennis, Eugene

Others - Demelza, Damaris, Phineas, Jessamine, Temperance, Hepzibar, Balthazar, Tarquin, Cornelius

TheLastNigel · 30/05/2018 08:26

Daphne. I still like it actually. I might name my fictional third child it.

Jj2431 · 30/05/2018 08:29

Cornelius
Athena
Raphael
Renata
Alva
Demelza
Guinevere
Ailsa
Alanis

Jj2431 · 30/05/2018 08:30

Also Riley for a girl

AliasGrape · 30/05/2018 09:12

Girls - Hero, Antigone (Tiggy), Sage, Cressida, Cecilia, Camilla, Celine, Marianne, Bianca, Valentina, Delilah, Bathsheba, Octavia, Ianthe, Isolde

Boys - Santiago, Enzo, Paris, Ellery, Victor, Jasper, Inigo, Rafael, Axel, Fox, Emerson, Elijah, Blaine, Hector, Otto, Griffin

To be fair I’d totally use some of the above, but DP is more of the Jane and John school of naming so we’re going to have to meet somewhere in the middle!

Insponeeded · 30/05/2018 10:14

My daughters name has come up on here ☺️ It is a bit of a marmite name though.
Girls: Arrietty
Boys: Ptolemy
We named our baby in the sky Vesper as it means ‘evening star’ I don’t think I would be brave enough to name an earth baby Vesper.

MaiaRindell · 30/05/2018 11:56

MaybeyBaybey · 31/05/2018 12:44

Boy's names:

Fiorello, Korbinian, Severin and names that are hyphenated with Marie/Maria. I like hyphenated boy's names in general, tbh.

Girl's names:
Lettice, Sophronia, Gemma, Severina, Roxanne. (Idk if Gemma is a genuine gp name. But it's one of my favourite names and my lovely spouse apparently hates it...😑)

17caterpillars1mouse · 31/05/2018 17:26

My DD's name is on here.

Oh I would do love to meet a toddler Humphrey. Not sure a teenage boy would thank their parents though. Shame

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 31/05/2018 17:46

I know toddlers called Hector, rafe, cassian and two called Jago!

My sons middle name has been mentioned 😁

My own too out there choice was Dashiel, nick name Dash.

ErrantBakedBean · 01/06/2018 09:39

ErrantBakedBean · 01/06/2018 09:40

*Albany I’m not going to call a child Already Blush

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 01/06/2018 09:56

I know a fair few children with names from this thread, I'm pleased to say.

Welled up a bit at 'Vesper': Thanks to you.

Mine are:

Elanor (the flower in LOTR)
Ariadne (vetoed by DH)

ElfrideSwancourt · 01/06/2018 11:04

Most of our cats' names have come up here- we call our cats all the pretentious names my DH wouldn't let me call our DCs.
I would have loved to have called my eldest Scarlett, which would have really suited her, but no-go with boring DH.

CranberryCrush · 01/06/2018 14:46

Storm for a girl

Hero for a boy

They do sound more like ponies than children though ☺
