Just wondering as I thought this would be quite fun to do... what where all your names going to be before your parents picked the names they did, my name is Ella however they didn't come up with the name Ella until I was a day old! Before this I was going to be
Girl
Ellie
Elle
Emma
Tallulah😂
Tilly

Boy
Jack
Jackson
Lucas
Steven
Daniel

What where you going to be called?

Grace or Luke

My little girl is now called Grace

longestlurkerever · 23/05/2018 18:26

Imogen or Alasdair. My name is duller than these, which I was grateful for as a child but now feel I could have pulled off Imogen

TitZilla · 23/05/2018 18:35

Ray for a boy or Rain for a girl (if my dad had got his way)

Luckily he was as pissed as a fart in the pub when my mum had me, and by the time he realised that she must be in the hospital she’d already named me Lucy.

Georgina125 · 23/05/2018 18:45

My Mum claims she always knew what my name would be however she admits to wanting Laura Jane for my sibling- until a boy came out! Then there was of rethinking..

My MIL wanted Kimberley for a girl but it was vetoed by FIL because he couldn't spell it!

soundsystem · 23/05/2018 18:45

I was going to be Charlene. Charlene! No prizes for guessing when I was born!

HappyLollipop · 23/05/2018 18:48

Was supposed to be called Georgina after my great-grandmother on my mums side but my dad hated it he was worried that other children would tease me by calling me George! Georgina is my middle name but I'm glad they picked something bit more modern.

Soubriquet · 23/05/2018 18:51

Anna-maria... my nans are Anne and Marie

I'm not Anna-Maria

NannyKasey · 23/05/2018 18:58

I would have been Adrian, my brother would have been Louise, (he's not called Adrian btw as Adrian was my mum's choice not my dad's - they agreed to take it in turns, mum went first)

Marioki · 23/05/2018 20:01

I would have been Gillian until someone pointed out my initials would be GG and my mum worried that if I had her large teeth or my dad's long face I'd get teased for looking horsey and having a name to match. I inherited both so they made the right decision.

I would have been David if were a boy (David Liam or David Joseph)

GinIsIn · 23/05/2018 20:48

I was going to be Tamsin or Tristan.

My brother, who was born a year later, is not a Tristan either.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 23/05/2018 20:54

Freya
Hella
Skadi

They went with Loki.... a boys name.

Peachy92 · 23/05/2018 21:19

I'm an Emma and was going to be Stacey or Charlotte or if a boy Daniel. I do love that my mum and dad decided "Emma Jayne" made the announcement with a poster and everything and then mum decided it was "too artsy" and went with Jane instead of Jayne 😂

GetInLoserWereGoingShopping · 24/05/2018 09:57

I was going to be either Imogen, Jade or Holly. I escaped with Lauren :)

If I was a boy, I would of been Laurence Hmm

RosieCotton · 25/05/2018 01:30

Until day I was born I was going to be Thomsina. (Thank god my nan stepped in)

If I was a boy I was going to be called Liam-Anthony.

Mousefunky · 25/05/2018 01:35

My DM was going to be Heidi had she not been born so close to Christmas.

Mum thought I was a boy and I was going to be Bradley, she also thought my Dbro was a girl and he was going to be Millie. My DF wanted to call me Esmeralda Grin.

FASH84 · 26/05/2018 19:18

Adam because sex identification scans were not good in the eighties!

MaybeBabey · 26/05/2018 19:48

Alma. :)

They were a bit stumped for boys names... My father liked Frederik and Erik. My mother liked Francesco and Antonio. Frank was one of the few compromise solutions, I believe...

angryburd · 26/05/2018 20:54

Grace, back in the 80s before it became fashionable again.

I became Claire instead. Very 80s!

DramaAtTheTurkeyCafe · 29/05/2018 18:54

I was nearly Eleanor Margaret (my actual name has quite a similar traditional feel). They hadn't agreed on any boys' names when I was born, but when my younger brother was born, the second-choice boy's name they'd considered for him was Fergus (with James as a middle name, which they did in fact use as his middle name).

Bunnygreys · 29/05/2018 18:57

Paul if I’d been a boy

Other girl names considered were-
Paula
Nikita
And Stevie

Osopolar · 29/05/2018 18:58

My parents still have the piece of paper with the lists on. Names include Hermione, Electra, Euripides, Urban, Storm etc. I have a perfectly normal name 😂
