Just wondering as I thought this would be quite fun to do... what where all your names going to be before your parents picked the names they did, my name is Ella however they didn't come up with the name Ella until I was a day old! Before this I was going to be
Girl
Ellie
Elle
Emma
Tallulah😂
Tilly

Boy
Jack
Jackson
Lucas
Steven
Daniel

What where you going to be called?

DH would have been Barbara.

I would have been Cameron.

cordeliae · 22/05/2018 22:25

Would've been Cyril if male, Cressida or Blanche if female.

BikeRunSki · 22/05/2018 22:28

My parents decided what they’d call their first dd on their first date. They both collected different editions/illustrators of the same children’s classic. I am named after the eponymous heroine.

RedDwarves · 22/05/2018 22:35

I was going to be Amelia or Patrick.

YoucancallmeVal · 22/05/2018 22:37

Victoria or Rhys.

Buntysoven · 22/05/2018 22:57

Lyndsey or Andrew. Much prefer my own name!

DuggeeHugs · 23/05/2018 07:58

I was going to be Eleanor after the flower in the Lord of the Rings. I ended up with a completely different Scottish name, and to this day they cannot explain why!

felicitythemangyfox · 23/05/2018 08:03

I was meant to be Roberta Grin

When I was a kid I was hugely grateful to that I ended up with my super boring, common name, but these days I think it's quite cool and would even consider it for my own child.

Whyiseveryonesoangry · 23/05/2018 08:16

My parents had no alternative. They had decided I was going to be a girl and had only one name for me. I really like my name, there was only one other in my school for the whole of the 11 years, but it’s not really odd. They would have been panicking if I’d come out as a boy I think.

Cosmoa · 23/05/2018 08:22

I was going to be Luke if I was a boy. I'm Aimée.

And my twin boy/girl siblings were going to be Luke and Lydia but then my Mum loved Ellis for a girl so she let my dad choose the boy name..

They went with Ellis and Samuel!

17caterpillars1mouse · 23/05/2018 08:58

Elizabeth or Chelsea

Andrew

NorbertTheDragon · 23/05/2018 09:05

Demelza or David.

I'm glad I'm not Demelza, although I do know a lovely lady with that name! It just wouldn't have suited me I don't think.

Camomila · 23/05/2018 09:10

That's lovely bikerunski my parents also decided on my name before I was concieved. I've got a name that lots of Brazilian girls had (they lived there for a bit) they were hoping i'd come out tanned and brown haired and brown eyed (we're Italian, its a 'light' meaning name so the contrast is nice)
I popped out pale, mousy haired and blue eyed but still got my Brazilian name.

My DM had a passing flirtation with the name Gertrude when she was pregnant Shock

sunshineonarainyday321 · 23/05/2018 09:23

I was going to be Christopher, my parent's were so sure I was going to be a boy that they didn't even think of a girls name. I turned out to be a girl and my name was plucked out of the air shortly after I arrived, a lot of thought went into it haha. They didn't do too badly, I quite like my name, Catherine.

spiderlight · 23/05/2018 11:45

My mum was set on my actual (incredibly boring) name since she was a child, so I was never going to be anything else, but my dad has always insisted that he liked Wilhelmina, and also genuinely suggested Theodora and Alison Confused. If I'd been a boy I would have been Richard.

jaynelovesagathachristie · 23/05/2018 11:53

Sara ( which I like) or Phillip ( which I hated) I was named after a joke about a royal couple from the past

mrsnec · 23/05/2018 13:38

@MammieBear My dc are both toddlers but I possibly have similar taste to your folks as both my two are on that list!

I was going to be Matthew or Tanya. Got a festive although not obviously so, after being born just before Christmas.

Rockhopper81 · 23/05/2018 15:35

I was originally going to be Gemma if a girl, or Adam if a boy. My name is nothing like Gemma, and my mum admitted she would never have gone through with it in the end as she really wasn't that keen on it at all.

I go by the shortened version of my name for everything except passport, driving license and qualifications - which was the intention. Apparently my mum wanted the long version so it would look better on qualifications/application forms, but knew it was highly probable I would use the shortened version as a teenager/adult! Smile

happytobemrsg · 23/05/2018 15:36

Wesley Hmm

Aussiemouse · 23/05/2018 17:49

John Paul if I were a boy. Very glad I wasn't!

TitilatedOcelot · 23/05/2018 18:13

Timothy or Rachel.

My sisters got to pick between Rachel and my actual name. I know loads of Rachels but have come across v few people with my name, so they chose well.

myhousesmellsofIKEA · 23/05/2018 18:18

I was always going to be what I am called, my brother would have been Joslyn if he’d been a girl.
When my aunt was born my grandparents had decided on Elizabeth, but then Grandad changed his mind on the way to register her and called her Jill. He went by himself as my Gran was still in hospital, so it was a bit of a shock when he came back Hmm

RuthW · 23/05/2018 18:18

Colin or Duncan is I was a boy. Glad I wasn't!

Rachel or Fiona. I love Fiona.

Takfujuimoto · 23/05/2018 18:21

I was going to be Marta or Michael

I am actually Allegra

TitilatedOcelot · 23/05/2018 18:23

My dad wanted to call my older sister Lancelot if she was a boy. Luckily he had all girls!
