What do you think of this name?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Although it was a top 5 name my dd was the only one in her year of 110 girls with the name. Jessica was another top 5 name and there was only one Jess too. My younger daughter has a really rare name, only 30 born in England with that name in her year of birth but she’s shortened it to a popular nickname & there are 3 of those.

Sophie is a nice name.

She's nice Sophie, not controversial, sweet.
Sophia is sophisticated and elegant. She is Sophie's big sister.

dillytilly · 19/05/2018 13:26

Beautiful sophisticated name x

angryburd · 19/05/2018 13:28

Yawn.

ellav · 19/05/2018 13:28

Love it! Star

ScaredPAD · 19/05/2018 13:32

Much prefer it to Sophia which I don't like as it's risen as a trend whereas Sophie is more classic.

I might be tempted by something less popular though.

blinkineckmum · 19/05/2018 18:47

It's a bit 'weak' to my ears.

finallychangedmyusername · 19/05/2018 18:50

Absolutely love it. Classic, elegant and I always think of the little Sophie who saves the world in the BFG.

bookworm14 · 19/05/2018 19:45

It’s my DD’s name. Was always my favourite girl’s name since childhood. Yes it’s popular, but it’s classic and timeless, not flash-in-the-pan. I also love that it means ‘wisdom’.

Marioki · 20/05/2018 17:45

I think it's lovely and it will age and travel well.

Mollie85 · 21/05/2018 17:43

I want to love it so much but I was at school with six of them in my year (school year 86 so to the poster thinking it wasn’t a popular 80’s name - it was down south Wink ) and of the six five were absolutely horrible. I actually still remember my 8th birthday when one made me cry by saying that we were poor and I had fleas in my house (because we didn’t have a horse and stable).

Sorry. I digress....
This is baby names, not therapy Grin

Sophie is a lovely name, and not too popular - I work in a primary school, about 250 children, and there's only one Sophie

Sessy19 · 21/05/2018 17:54

My sister is Sophie.

It’s been in the top ten names in the UK pretty much every year since 1982...

I often wonder why someone wants to name their child after a million others. In every year I was at school, both mine and my sisters names were shared with 5 or so others. Which is fine. Just sadly unimaginative.

SoftBlocks · 21/05/2018 17:57

Lovely. Classic, pretty, a change from Sophia. I would have used it but it doesn’t work with our surname.

DailyMailFail101 · 21/05/2018 17:59

It’s fine, don’t love it or hate it, it’s just fine.

ellalouise90 · 21/05/2018 18:27

Personally find it quite a boring simple name and it's quite popular if this I what you like though for for it! It could be made more pretty by maybe Sophiana or Sophia?

Smoliver · 21/05/2018 20:07

Speaking as a Sophie, I like this name and always have done. Never had an issue with it Grin
