What do you think of this name?

I like it but it is very popular so if you want unusual you may want to think of other names or use it as a middle name.

Justabadwife · 16/05/2018 21:39

I have a Sophie.
She is Sophie Rebecca

TatianaLarina · 16/05/2018 21:39

I think there are 2.5 billion other Sophies in the country.

She will always be Sophie Treez or Sophie T.

Muddlingalongalone · 16/05/2018 21:41

I have a Sophie and love it. I have to admit I must have been living under a rock because I didn't know how popular it was! But at least she can get stuff with her name on😂😂

funmummy48 · 16/05/2018 21:41

Love it! I have one too 😀

MrsCD67 · 16/05/2018 21:50

It's ok but a bit bland (like another poster said; it's a bit like Emily)
There's so many Sophias and Sophies around that the name is too overused IMO although you could say that about lots of other names too!

cedoren · 16/05/2018 21:51

Best name ever

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 16/05/2018 22:11

I don't understand why people always say they'll be kids of the same name in the class when talking about common names. I've taught about 15 sophie's in my time and never had 2 in the same class. However I've currently teach 2 sets of 2 girls with the same name in the same class yet I've never even come across another child with either of the 2 names before! Look up how many even the number 1 name on a list is used and you'd be surprised.

If you like a name- use it!

bridgetreilly · 16/05/2018 22:14

I think it's a bit wet, personally.

Whatabloodysaga · 16/05/2018 22:25

Love it. Timeless, pretty and classic.

Not yet ever met a horrible Sophie.

It was high up on our list of girls names 22, 20 and 17 years ago, but I have 3 boys so it never got used.

chezmk1988 · 16/05/2018 22:27

Nice name

VanGoghsLeftEar · 16/05/2018 22:32

I have a a Sophie Rebecca too @justabadwife ! She’s 11.

I was against the name but I was unconscious when she was born, and my husband told the nurse his choice before I woke up.

I would have preferred something floral or arty like Daisy, Genevieve or Demeter. Sophie is a sappy name. Luckily my daughter is strong and clever. It means wisdom. Her BFF is Sophia.

TatianaLarina · 16/05/2018 22:46

my husband told the nurse his choice before I woke up

Aside from the fact that that is a shitty thing to do, a nurse is no kind of official name register.

You could have just said ‘no it’s not’.

spottydott · 16/05/2018 23:15

I think Sophie is cute

Pressuredrip · 16/05/2018 23:46

Boring

buttercup54321 · 17/05/2018 03:40

Beautiful. I love it x

clairehr · 17/05/2018 07:56

It's a gentle name, but everyone around me seems to be calling their daughters Sophie or Katie currently. Having been one of many Claire's growing up I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but then I like to stand out a bit.

I prefer Sophia personally, but if you love it, go for it!

TurquoiseDress · 18/05/2018 00:28

I do love Sophie although I'd go for Sophia instead, not sure exactly why!

The only thing with Sophie is that it seems to be so popular at the moment eg 3 Sophie's at the nursery!

It is a classic name though

Joeybee · 18/05/2018 03:08

LOVE it. It was on my list before I found out I'm having a boy.
Sophie is cute, but also a full, strong name. I like that it is not as popular as Sophia, and I think it'll stand the test of time better.
Only thing that I didn't like about Sophie was the lack of nickname potential.

Dancingmonkey87 · 18/05/2018 05:50

I have a Sophie she’s the only one in her class at school.

sonnyboo · 18/05/2018 06:43

It's very popular. I know lots of Sophies.

Sabistick · 18/05/2018 06:50

A bit overused, like Hannah, ellie or Jessica a few years back, maybe that peak ed , it's not bad in itself, just a bit ordinary.

SparklySeashell · 18/05/2018 06:59

I absolutely love it, because I have one too! There are 90 in DD's year at school and she's the only Sophie! Although she's one of 4 at her dance class, but they all quite like that!

YouCantCallMeBetty · 18/05/2018 07:01

Its a sweet name and an added bonus that your baby will have the same name as all those rubber teething giraffes you're likely to be given.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 18/05/2018 07:02

Sophie is the perfect name. Simple, elegant, travels well, fabulous meaning. A lot of people agree with me, though, which means there are a lot of Sophies and Sophias (which I personally prefer) about. It got struck off our list for this reason.
