Hi, I’m Yohannette (everyone calls me Hanna) and I’ve hated my name for a long time. So I found out I was pregnant with my first two children me and my partner wanted to make sure the names for our expectant twin girls have to be perfect. I just want to say now that there are so many websites that can come up with the weirdest names for twins. While searching we found suggestions for things like Daisy and Maisy, Willow and Elm, and my personal faverioute, Blackpool and Liverpool. I have nothing against these names and I actually called my third girl Maisy, but the fact that you would rhyme it is beyond me. It was these terrible suggestions that made me and my wife realise that we wanted our kids to have names that not only sounded nice but meant something. We searched through diary pages to find memorable places that names weren’t insane, we talked to relatives about their or their parents names, sifting through all this history as well as numerous lists of what would be the “next big thing” in baby names. By using all this different sources we somehow managed to find two names that we love every time we hear them, Stella-Marnie (Star from the Sea) Audrey Thomas. This was perfect because we fell in love with the meaning of the first name and I proposed in front of an Audrey Hepburn film. And Georgia London Thomas, Georgia is the name of my wife’s grandmother, and we met in London.

I hope this hope has helped you in the search to find the perfect name for you new born.
Hanna

My sister tells the story of twin girls at her school. Parents, who later divorced, agreed to name one daughter each. They were called names along the lines of Seraphina Violetta and Lisa Louise. Whilst I agree about not doing matchy- matchy names I did think that was a bit far the other way!

Glad you found names you love. My top tip is name the adult, not just the child.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/05/2018 17:01

So what is Maisy's middle name and is Thomas a surname or a recurrent middle name? I can't sleep for wondering

Also, I might get my son's name changed by deed poll now, because we just picked one we liked. What do you suggest I name him?

AndysComing · 12/05/2018 17:05

Unfortunately my children already have names Hanna. But if I were to ever have another child this thread will be invaluable. You're like the naming angel. God bless.

SavoyCabbage · 12/05/2018 17:06

It’s always twins.

Anyway, pretty much everyone picks names they like and names that have a certain meaning to them.

Hardly anyone at all picks a name that they don’t like and that means absolutely nothing to them or their family.

OliveOrTwist · 12/05/2018 17:06

I'm so glad you posted this enlightening post. We've been struggling to come up with names but after reading your post, all is now clear and problem solved Hmm Confused

Whut?

I've read the OP twice and don't get it.

You like beer, Audrey Hepburn and met in London, right? Cool.

I just went with the first one I liked in the baby name book.
Aaron is 5 now and Aaron-Two (it’s hyphenated, sorry!) is 3.

VimFuego101 · 12/05/2018 17:09

It doesn't matter what you call them, you'll get sick of the name regardless after you've yelled it thousands of times whilst they ignore you. HTH.

Soubriquet · 12/05/2018 17:09
Hmm

RIght......

I've named 2 kids, 4 dogs, 5 cats, a snake, several mice, several hamsters and some fish

You should defintely listen to me when it comes to names

lemonsunshinecake · 12/05/2018 17:11

Jeez, enlightening post. What the actual fuck makes you the expert on naming children?

Soubriquet · 12/05/2018 17:11

Oh No wait, sorry I forgot I helped name the dogs in the rescue centre I worked at so I've named over 60 dogs

PetulantPolecat · 12/05/2018 17:12

So, you had no idea other people named their kids because the names meant something personal to them? You thought everyone else just looked at a website and picked a random name?

And you’re the first genius to actually attach a personal meaning to the name of your child?

Wow.

I hate Stella-Marnie. Reads and sounds like Stella Mare. A common name for a restaurant. Poor kid will be teased.

QOD · 12/05/2018 17:12

I’m way too over invested in trying to post this ...
