Eve-lyn. It's my mums name. She sometimes gets people mis-pronouncing but just corrects them

Friends of ours called their second daughter Alice Evalyn - spelt that way but pronounced Eva Lin.

Where are people getting the 'r' from to make it Ever-lin?

They have non-rhotic accents and don't pronounce 'r' unless it's followed by a vowel.

I had only ever heard it as "Ehv-Lin" until I started a new job a couple of years ago and there are 2 who are both "Eve-Lin".

Its a great name i pronounce my DDs as ever lin spelt Evelyn.

The one I know is pronounced Ev-lin so that would be my first assumption

Oh ffs there's always one who asks about the r. er is just one phoneme without a separate r for lots and lots of people. Have you seriously never heard anyone in rl or on tv who doesn't have a rhotic accent?

Evvuhlin is a girl's name
