This week we welcomed our 2nd son to go with our 1st (Teddy).

We have been stuck on 5 names for quite a while.

Leo - A cool name - quite high up on popularity now. Feels quite safe.

Arthur - had some great feedback on this but also some negative comments. Feels a bit more edgy.

Louis (Lou-ee) A cute name but strong also. Not as popular as Leo.

Luca - A bit of a wildcard for us, we both like it, but not sure if we are quite brave enough! Has a more unique feel.

Frankie - Our outside choice - but both like it.

Feels quite hard when you’re not pinned to one in particular.

Thanks for advice all x

Luca. I love it but my dh wasn't so keen so it was vetoed for my DS. I think it's a lovely name, unusual but not too 'crazy'.

GrumpySausage · 22/04/2018 11:19

And congratulations! Thanks

NapQueen · 22/04/2018 11:19

Luca.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 22/04/2018 11:20

Prefer Lucas.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 22/04/2018 11:20

Oh and my cousin has a Teddy (Edward) and a Barny (Barnaby).

siblingrevelryagain · 22/04/2018 11:30

I have a Luca, and a Frankie (but she’s officially Francesca!)

Luca was unusual 11 years ago but is becoming more popular/mainstream. It’s a proper awesome name! I’ve never had a bad reaction, the worst has been ambivalence. Mostly v positive

Missymoo82 · 22/04/2018 12:24

Louis seems to stand out as one you like most!

clarenanny · 22/04/2018 12:56

Thanks so far.

Just read some comments on another ‘Luca’ thread that you should only use if you are Italian. I’m aware of its origin but thought that was a bit out dated now. Thread was 5 years old tbf.

In order of preference:

Arthur
Leo (the popularity puts me off officially putting in on my list but I’ve never actually met one)
Louis
Frank/Frankie

Luca - I know quite a few so the name just seems a bit meh to me now.

MorningCuppa · 22/04/2018 13:51

Arthur.

northbynorthwesty · 22/04/2018 13:51

Don’t think you need to be Italian to be called Luca . If you like it, go for it

NumberFrame · 22/04/2018 13:53

Arthur

kimlo · 22/04/2018 13:57

Arthur is more popular than Leo, but it's popularity seems to have come from nowhere so most of them are still babies, where as Leo is abit more spread out over more ages.

I would call hime Luca.

Or Abert known as Bertie.

MagicalMerlot · 22/04/2018 14:00

Congratulations Flowers
I like Arthur

MollyHuaCha · 22/04/2018 14:01

Leo or Luca

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 22/04/2018 14:22

Frankie is cute for a child, but maybe consider Frank or Francis as a full name to give more options?

I LOVE Louis, though and think it sounds great with Teddy. That's my vote ❎

ErrantBakedBean · 22/04/2018 14:54

I have met several babies called Louis / Louie over the past year so it might be getting more popular

HashBrowns · 22/04/2018 14:57

Congratulations!
I love Arthur, like Luca too but Arthur my fav x

Creatureofthenight · 22/04/2018 15:03

I don’t think Luca ‘goes’ with Teddy. Arthur or Frankie are nice.

PinkFlamingo888 · 22/04/2018 15:27

I like Arthur and Leo personally. I like Frankie too but think the other two names sound better with Teddy

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 22/04/2018 15:31

Louis by a country mile. Congratulations OP!

helpmum2003 · 22/04/2018 15:33

Arthur or Louis. Congratulations!

HugMeBringItIn · 22/04/2018 15:38

Love Luca and goes nicely with Teddy.
We had Rafa on our boys name list and have no Italian origins.

justanotheruser18 · 22/04/2018 15:41

Congrats 💙
I love Leo and Luca

BringMeCoffeePlease · 22/04/2018 16:57

Congrats OP.

Hate Arthur and don’t like Luca. Arthur is a very wet name, and Luca just doesn’t sound nice and also doesn’t ‘go with’ Teddy.

Leo is so lovely. It’s timeless and popular for a reason. I also like Louis, which is also quite popular.

Frankie is nice too.
