This week we welcomed our 2nd son to go with our 1st (Teddy).

We have been stuck on 5 names for quite a while.

Leo - A cool name - quite high up on popularity now. Feels quite safe.

Arthur - had some great feedback on this but also some negative comments. Feels a bit more edgy.

Louis (Lou-ee) A cute name but strong also. Not as popular as Leo.

Luca - A bit of a wildcard for us, we both like it, but not sure if we are quite brave enough! Has a more unique feel.

Frankie - Our outside choice - but both like it.

Feels quite hard when you’re not pinned to one in particular.

Thanks for advice all x

Congrats! Luca doesn’t go very well with Teddy. I like Arthur or Frankie best.

Babynonamee · 22/04/2018 17:20

Congrats!
We also just had a second DS this week and struggled with a name to go with our DS1 called Teddy Grin

Arthur was second on my list. It's lovely, although getting popular. Love the NN Artie.

I personally don't like Luca, it seems unfinished. Leo is a bit short.

We went with Wilfred. NN possibilities Wilf, Fred, Freddie (although Freddie and Teddy is ridiculous... Too cute!, so we will be sticking to Wilf)
Congrats againSmile

I know a few Luca's and they aren't Italian! It like that name the best from your list Smile Louis after that!

Congratulations Grin

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/04/2018 17:37

Louis, great name !

starzig · 22/04/2018 17:44

Luca is a girls name (soft c like lucy) the boys name is Luka. I really like it though

Daisiesinthepark · 22/04/2018 19:11

I like Leo best (also really like Leon).

I've heard Luca mostly as an Italian boys name and although I like it to me it has a bit of a feminine ring to it, probably due to the a at the end.

Uniglo18 · 22/04/2018 19:17

Leon or Luca

ShackUp · 22/04/2018 19:21

I've got a Freddie (Alfred) and a Bertie (Albert), I think they're cool names!

trueblueari · 22/04/2018 19:23

Congrats!
Luca is lovely. Teddy and Luca sound good together.
As for not being Italian: I'm Arietta, and have no Italian roots, and my daughter has a very French name and no French roots. It might turn heads if it was something very Italian like Gianluca but Luca on its own is perfectly fine.

auntyflonono · 22/04/2018 19:37

Arthur!

Ginnotginger · 22/04/2018 20:07

I like Luca the best but not sure if it really goes with Teddy, I think it sounds okay if you use the nn Lou or Luke.
I know a few boys called Louis, some have it pronounced as you like it others have it pronounced Lewis so he might have to get used to correcting people.
I don't like Frankie especially with Teddy.
Not keen on Arthur either or it's nns Art or Artie. Again Artie and Teddy sound a bit too cute to me.
I like Leo and it sounds nice with Teddy.

Hope you choose soon and Congratulations Flowers

sonlypuppyfat · 22/04/2018 20:12

I like Luke, I really dislike Arthur I think it's an ugly sound

Bakez66 · 22/04/2018 21:57

I like Luca and Louie. A few other names.....Riley, Troy , Eddie, Terrance, Theo

crunchtime · 22/04/2018 22:01

Leo.
Classic strong beautiful name

Raines100 · 22/04/2018 22:07

Leo or Luca

Ruthshaw1980 · 22/04/2018 22:29

Louis by a country mile. Timeless, classic and not a faddy name. Never understood the recent clamour surrounding Arthur but as they say, each to their own

DownInTheDumps1 · 22/04/2018 22:45

Archer?

Joeybee · 23/04/2018 01:09

Leo - It is a nice name, and was on my list actually. However due to its popularity I feel like it's becoming a bit boring now. I'd also go with Leonardo/Leonard/Leopold and shorted it to Leo if I were to use it.

Arthur - This name was on my list. Love this name. Also like Albert, which is a good alternative. I think some people won't like the name, because it is an old fashioned name that is only just coming back into common use. So a lot of people would probably still associate the name with an old man. Only thing I don't like about Arthur is the lack of nickname potential.

Louis - LOVE this name. If I could convince my Husband then it'd be on my list also. It's such a classic, gentle, sweet name.

Luca - I really like this name. However it's such a strongly Italian name that if I didn't have Italian roots then I'm not sure I'd feel right using it.

Frankie - A bit chavvy sounding to me.

Dvg · 23/04/2018 01:13

Luca I love.

Atticusss · 23/04/2018 01:14

Luca and Arthur just seem a bit meh and boring to me so I'm very surprised they are your brace choices.

I love Louis, always thought it was very cute but makes a cool teenager/adult too. I like Frankie and Leo too, but a bit too average.

17caterpillars1mouse · 23/04/2018 13:40

Luca is gorgeous

chezmk1988 · 23/04/2018 18:50

Teddy and Arthur x

starkid · 24/04/2018 10:11

I like Louis and Luca best :) Congratulations!

RoundaboutSnail · 24/04/2018 11:27

Leo

Smoliver · 24/04/2018 20:31

Congrats OP! Flowers

I love the name Leo. I just love the lion association with this name. It is popular, but I don't actually know any in my area!

I also really like Luca and Frankie. Smile
