Me and my partner are expecting our second daughter. We have an Erin Angelica and this baby’s middle name will be Avril. We have no problem making a mile long list but we’re never happy to shorten it or figure out which one is “right”. With 9 weeks to go I’m starting to panic! Our list is: Penelope, Lucy, Gwen, Quinn, Fleur, Maya or Felicity. Advice and suggestions are welcomed.. thanks!

Lucy! It's perfect.

pipilangstrumpf · 10/04/2018 13:57

Lucy and Penelope are beautiful and feminine.

Quinn is a boy's name and often a nickname for Quentin. It sounds masculine, like Finn or Flynn.

pipilangstrumpf · 10/04/2018 13:57

Felicity is also very nice!

ErrantBakedBean · 10/04/2018 13:59

Lucy is lovely and sounds good with sister Erin and with Avril as a middle name. I suppose middle names aren't used that often but Erin Angelica flows beautifully whereas Gwen Avril, Quinn Avril, Maya Avril and Fleur Avril don't to my ear.

TroubledLichen · 10/04/2018 14:07

Congratulations! If you’re set on Avril as a middle name (which I love by the way), I wouldn’t use Quinn as a first name. It runs together and sounds like quinapril which is a heart failure drug. Most people probably wouldn’t make the connection but I still don’t think it sounds very nice. I like all your other names except for Maya but my favourite is definitely Penelope with Lucy coming in a close second.

ChocolateCrunch · 10/04/2018 14:10

Definitely Lucy - Lucy Avril sounds lovely, and Erin and Lucy sound perfect together.

0to3sadonions · 10/04/2018 14:12

I like lucy or Felicity.

I don’t like Quinn, it sounds too much like Quim.

jacqcn411 · 10/04/2018 14:14

Seems Lucy is getting the most love, now to convince the Mr!

Quinn is not a boy’s name. Daria’s sister was Quinn. I think it’s a great name and who on Earth uses the word quim nowadays apart from Loki, apparently. Felicity is my favourite from your list though.

HappyGirl86 · 10/04/2018 14:25

Definitely Lucy! I agree with the previous response about Quinn and Avril running on together

deptfordgirl · 10/04/2018 14:27

I love Felicity. I also like Lucy but Felicity seems more special.

ReversingSnail · 10/04/2018 14:31

Lucy or Felicity

lovelyjubilly · 10/04/2018 14:31

Penelope - nice
Lucy - nice but massively over-done in the 80s/90s
Gwen - ok
Quinn - I would assume boy
Fleur - sounds incomplete to me.
Maya - very common and will be mispronounced/misspelt all the time
Felicity - love it

SleepFreeZone · 10/04/2018 14:33

Felicity will be Flick which I like!

FairyFantastic · 10/04/2018 14:34

Erin Angelica & Lucy Avril
Erin Angelica & Felicity Avril
Erin Angelica & Maya Avril

pipilangstrumpf · 10/04/2018 14:49

Quinn can be used for girls, but many more boys are called Quinn/Quentin than girls (according to Government ONS list). I personally find it very strong and masculine sounding.

Love Felicity though!

SevenStones · 10/04/2018 15:05

I don’t like Quinn, it sounds too much like Quim.

Exactly my thoughts!

jacqcn411 · 10/04/2018 15:06

Had never thought of Flick for felicity, cute nickname for when she’s older.. and Felicity Avril does sound lovely ... gosh I’m so torn!

Another vote for Lucy or Felicity.

Sophronia · 10/04/2018 18:29

I like Gwen

strawberrypenguin · 10/04/2018 18:30

Felicity. Lovely name

blinkineckmum · 10/04/2018 18:32

Lucy

mostdays · 10/04/2018 18:33

Maya or Lucy, but I'm not sure either really works with your chosen middle name
