Totally stuck for boys' names

DC2 is on the way and appears to be a boy. We are totally stuck for name inspiration, especially as we found a name we really loved for DC1.

If he were a girl he would be Iris, Martha, or Alice. We love Peter, Benedict, and Arthur, but DH and I are both the youngest of large-ish families and these names have already been used by close family members.

We are wary of anything too popular (which would probably count against Iris and Arthur).

Please inspire us?!

Think about the child in school and how the first name works with surname. Children are ruthless for nicknames. Particularly think of your ds as a teenager, trying to make his way through that time, fit in with the lads, attract the girls etc. Then think of him as a man going out in the world getting a job. If you were going into a meeting with a Timothy or a Samuel for example you instantly imagine a wet fish, almost definitely gay if it’s a Timmy. Not saying this is problem, merely pointing out assumptions made about certain names.

Little Finley sounds cute, but are you really taking Finely the man seriously? I think not, it’s a child’s name. Naming is a personal thing to the parents, but don’t forget your child has to survive puberty and forge there way into the world with that name. Don’t make it more difficult for them.

Patrick and Hugo are lovely. I also really like Barnaby.

Sorry if these are repeats, but how about Wilfred or Fergus?
