"Normal" but uncommon boys names

DC2 due end of July!

I feel like I've been through hundreds thousands of baby names and DP vetos every single one.

My first DC has a beautiful name, old fashioned but very much so a "normal" name in that there is no doubt as to how to spell or pronounce it. IDK if revealing her name would help name new DS?

The ONLY name we both sort of like is Arthur.

I like Rufus, Rupert, Alfred, Oscar (even though it seems to be becoming common), those sort of style names.

Please help us! I've made a thread before I think and had loads of lovely suggestions but guess what.... they all got veto'd!

Bear in mind my DP takes months to choose which new shirt to buy let alone name a child!

Christian
David
Benjamin
Alexander
Edward

These are all currently outside the top 30 so not over popular at the moment.

John

Simon, Paul, Mark, Peter, Luke - all remarkably uncommon atm.

CreamEggEnthusiast · 27/03/2018 19:22

I found it a lot more difficult naming my DS than my DD for some reason. I like the following
Ewan
Samuel
Matthew
James
Sidney
Ethan
George
Theo
Max
Jack

I know most of these are quite common but names are usually popular for a reason (they’re nice names)! I’m not a fan of ‘trendy’ names as they will go out of fashion and sound dated when the child grows up.

cece · 27/03/2018 19:31

I'd go for
John
Or
Victor

daisypond · 27/03/2018 19:31

I think many Scottish boys' name work will - Calum, Fraser, Alistair, Hamish, Rory, etc

GreyCloudsToday · 27/03/2018 21:11

I've got a partner with much the same views, especially on boys names!

So far we've got

Drew
Casper
Felix
Guy
Franz

Uncle Hamish might like having a little dn Hamish. Assuming you like him that is.

ShatnersBassoon · 27/03/2018 22:38

Richard
Michael
Christopher
John
Peter
Simon
Paul

All very normal, all used to be commonly used, but I haven't met a baby one of any of them for decades.

ShatnersBassoon · 27/03/2018 22:39

Also David. It's such a decent name, but you don't get them at all now.

FetchMeMyLatte · 27/03/2018 22:42

Fraser, Nathaniel, Declan, Billy, Greg, Kurt, Aaron, Tobias, Reece, Rowan etc.

PrimeraVez · 28/03/2018 06:47

We have a Leo and DS2 is likely to be Caspar.

Some of the more uncommon names on our list (well, my list):

Reuben
Rudy
Jude
Sebastian
Raphael
Euan
Owen

I also really like Theo (though obviously wouldn't work for us with a Leo!)

Sleephead1 · 28/03/2018 06:58

what about Nathan i dont think ive heard any lite ones with that name could shorten to Nate ? I've heard a Rowan which I really like also like Jude and Finn.
