Like, familiar and cool

roziedood · 24/03/2018 23:11

Also, not sure which spelling is best, Skylar, Skyler, Skyla ?

Breaking Bad is all I can think when I here Skyler

SueDunome · 24/03/2018 23:15

*hear 😶

Patsypedalo · 24/03/2018 23:20

Breaking bad, but that's not a bad thing. I like the name

Patal · 24/03/2018 23:20

I love it but prefer the Skyler spelling

llangennith · 24/03/2018 23:35

Isn’t it a boys name?

roziedood · 24/03/2018 23:36

It's used for girls and boys

I like skyla ...a pretty alternative could be Starla

onemorecakeplease · 24/03/2018 23:42

It reminds me of the Clint eastwood film
Wasn’t the boyfriend called skyler?

Every which way but loose!

RaininSummer · 24/03/2018 23:50

Not keen myself but nothing inherently wrong with it.

PavlovaPrincess · 25/03/2018 00:05

I thought it was mainly a boys name.

I once read a book where one of the characters was called Schuyler, and I pronounced it in my head as Shoolyer. It was years later that I realised it was Skylar.

I think that alone has put me off the name.

OuchLegoHurts · 25/03/2018 00:07

Unless you're a big Breaking Bad fan I would avoid. But I do love it!

Elusiveone · 25/03/2018 00:09

Very pretty name

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 25/03/2018 00:12

My first thoughts were Breaking Bad, but that will be forgotten soon, a name is for life.

I love love the suggestion above though of Starla, never heard that before. Would be a lovely name!

Pancakeflipper · 25/03/2018 00:13

It's a fine name but a bit dated

applesandpears56 · 25/03/2018 00:13

I’m too old - I thought good will hunting

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/03/2018 00:15

I used to work with an American (man) called Schuyler. Sky for short.

roziedood · 25/03/2018 00:18

UndomesticHousewife · 25/03/2018 00:35

Yes breaking bad! But I think it’s a very pretty name and like the Skyla spelling

JustPotteringAround · 25/03/2018 05:36

I also think it will date quite badly. It sounds quite unpleasant in our local accent - more like Sky-Luh - it may sound better where you are.

sleepymouse · 25/03/2018 05:55

It also makes me think of Breaking Bad, and I really didn't like the character so the name is tainted for me. However in years time no one will be associating the name with an old tv series so if you love it go for it

flaggerblasted · 25/03/2018 06:16

No, definitely wouldn't

SuperBeagle · 25/03/2018 08:18

It's considered low-class/"chavvy" where I live, which is odd as I would've thought it'd be more of a hippy/naturey name.

Sparklesdontshine · 25/03/2018 08:20

I really don’t like it, it reminds me of one of the characters in Southparks sister.
