Hailey or Cora?

Ok, so we are 29 dpo (and pregnant) and we would love your input on our girl names. We have our boy name (Leo, for Leonardo DiCaprio and Leo from charmed since I'm a dork. Also we just really like the name). However we are stuck on our girl name and would love to hear your opinions on both of these names and which one you like better. Thank you! 😊

Cora is lovely but be warned it’s quite popular at the moment. I like Hailey too but I prefer Hailie or Haley spellings. Whilst I really do like Hailey I tend to stay away from names with multiple spellings as it will be a faff with people always asking her how to spell it. Alternatively you might like Hallie :)

I love Cora. I considered it for DC2 (turned out to be DS). I think Hailey is nice too though and probably not as popular at the moment.

@stellarfox we were seriously considering Hallie too actually. My fiance is really into astronomy so we were thinking of Halley for Halley's comet. It's still in the mix too but we are unsure of how we would spell the name. Hallie looks more phonetic but my fiance loves the Halley spelling (as do I). This baby naming thing is tough!

Cora 100%

NC4Now · 24/03/2018 22:44

Was Halley’s Comet always spelt that way? I know a Haley who was born in the 80s when the comet came, and I also remember everyone pronouncing it Hayley’s Comet.

stellarfox · 25/03/2018 12:29

@NC4Now yes it's named after the surname of the person that discovered it.

@AlyTab Hard choice when there are so many spelling options but they are all nice so you can't go wrong! You might like Stella and Astrid too if you want a astronomy related name :)

OrangeTea · 25/03/2018 14:04

I like Hayley. Cora just makes me think of eastenders, but I love Cara.

AlyTab · 25/03/2018 14:20

Not a fan of Stella (or Astrid) personally, but thank you for suggestions I'm always open to them :)

@NC4Now as has been mentioned yes it has always been spelled that way and is pronounced Hal-ee, so it's a slightly different name as opposed to Hay-lee.

I don't really watch eastenders or any soaps. I did start to love the name after watching "the sinner" on Netflix though (I liked the name before this though!) I really recommend the sinner though it's amazing!

I prefer Hayley.
With a 'y'.

Not all that fond of Cora as a girl's name, but it's probably because I used to ride a horse called that!

PixieN · 25/03/2018 14:31

I prefer Cora, but that’s because a friend’s daughter has that name & she’s lovely.

Also like the name Leo for a girl or boy.
