Georgina or Georgiana

Which name do you prefer for DD2?

Bear in mind that DD1 is Elizabeth. I'm concerned that we might look a bit Pride and Prejudice obsessed if we go with Georgiana!

Georgina rather than Georgiana.

Winchester13 · 23/03/2018 12:26

I like Georgia or Georgina :)

LoveInTokyo · 23/03/2018 12:41

Georgia or Georgina.

Georgiana is too frilly for my tastes.

spiderlight · 23/03/2018 12:42

I suspect Georgiana will spend her entire life correcting people who assume that her name is Georgina.

ginauk84 · 23/03/2018 13:05

Georgina, if you go for Georgiana everyone will just assume it's Georgina anyway!

backsackcraic · 23/03/2018 13:08

Georgina as I think Georgiana is a bit fussy

unintentionalthreadkiller · 23/03/2018 13:14

Georgiana just doesn't flow.

ChocolateCrunch · 23/03/2018 14:20

Georgina, but prefer Georgia

foreverandalways · 23/03/2018 14:31

Neither

DullAndOld · 23/03/2018 14:33

Georgia..

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/03/2018 14:44

Georgina.

madamedepoppadom · 23/03/2018 15:10

I really prefer Georgette but think Georgina would be easier to live with than Georgiana nowadays.

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2018 15:48

Georgina

Paddington68 · 23/03/2018 15:54

Georgina or your child will be explaining how her name is spelled for the rest of her life.

Practicalpam · 23/03/2018 15:57

Georgina because Georgiana has at least 3 different ways to pronounce it and you/she will always be correcting them.

MrsCaecilius · 23/03/2018 16:01

Going against the grain here, but I love Georgiana! I knew one as a child and have always thought it was beautiful.

Elphabaisnotwicked · 23/03/2018 16:02

I love Georgiana! Have always really disliked Georgina though. Quite like Georgia too.

Dumbledoresgirl · 23/03/2018 16:04

Georgians, if you are posh enough to pull it off. I suspect she will be called Georgie by her friends, no matter which version you go for.

Personally, I have met too many Georginas in real life to like the name.

Dumbledoresgirl · 23/03/2018 16:05

first word of my previous post should be Georgiana

Tattybogle89 · 23/03/2018 16:05

Madam, georgette?! Sounds like courgette

MagicFajita · 23/03/2018 16:10

Nothing wrong with appearing to be or being p and p obsessed! I love Georgiana.

Pemba · 23/03/2018 16:21

Georgina - I think it flows really nicely, and gives rise easily to the short forms of Georgie or Gina.

Georgiana is a bit too frilly, plus has pronunciation choices. Should it be the usual George-ee-ahna, or the fancy George-ay-na, as in the film 'The Duchess'? What's the other way? George-ee-anna?

Honestly you are better off sticking with Georgina.

Wishfulmakeupping · 23/03/2018 16:24

Georgiana for the p and p connection 👍but like others I prefer Georgia too

Snowhite12 · 23/03/2018 16:51

Wow it seems like Georgia is winning and that wasn't even one of the choices!

Interesting....

I do like Georgia too so definitely an option. I did know a terrible person called Georgia but will try and put that out of my mind!

I'd assume Georgiana was a misspelling of Georgina, she will probably spend her life correcting people. Georgie is a lovely nickname!
