I've seen this name a few times recently but not sure how it's pronounced ? It's so pretty written down!

Is it Ez-May
Or Ez-Me

Or something else?

I'd pronounce it Ez May, unsure if that's right though.

Anna2006 · 16/03/2018 21:15

I would pronounce it Ez-may. Very pretty

Namebot · 16/03/2018 21:16

Ez-may

Grobagsforever · 16/03/2018 21:16

My Esmerelda was going to be known as Ez-Me. But DH named her Essy (Ezee) as a bump and it stuck.

Arapaima · 16/03/2018 21:17

I’d say Ez-mee

DramaAlpaca · 16/03/2018 21:18

Unless told otherwise I'd pronounce it EZ-me. I like that pronunciation better than EZ-may.

ShowOfHands · 16/03/2018 21:20

Either way is fine.

There have been many threads in the past. Often arguing about whether it's French or whether it should have an accent.

Both pronunciations are common. Pick the one you prefer.

TallulahBetty · 16/03/2018 21:22

I know two. One is Ez-mee and one is Ez-may. Same spelling and no accents on either

littlepooch · 16/03/2018 21:23

A friend has just called her baby Esme and I didn't want to pronounce it wrong. I guess maybe I should just ask her.

Either way it's a lovely name to me!

kinorsam · 16/03/2018 21:27

I know two, one spells her name Esme (pronounced Ez-mee) and the other is Esmae (pronounced Ez-may).

JennyOnAPlate · 16/03/2018 21:27

I only know one and she's ez-me.

ReversingSnail · 16/03/2018 21:27

Ez-me

splendide · 16/03/2018 21:28

The only one I know is 19 and an Esme

TatianaLarina · 16/03/2018 21:28

Esmé would be Esmay from the old French esmer. Esme would be Esmee.

splendide · 16/03/2018 21:28

Sorry! I’m an eejit. Ez-mee

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/03/2018 21:42

I've heard it pronounced both ways.
I once saw it spelt Esmay. Saves a lot of confusion about the pronounciation, I suppose

horseknickers · 16/03/2018 21:44

Es-mee. Lovely name.

VioletteValentia · 16/03/2018 21:46

Es-me

CocoLoco87 · 16/03/2018 21:47

Ez-me. It's on our shortlist for a girl!

AnyaMoondial · 16/03/2018 21:51

I like the Ez-me pronunciation but both ways are popular and that put
me off choosing the name.

pipilangstrumpf · 16/03/2018 22:26

It's neither Es-mee nor Es-may, but Es-mé

PeterRabbitEatingHisCarrot · 16/03/2018 22:36

Ez-may.
Ez-me just sounds wrong.

madamedepoppadom · 16/03/2018 22:38

I'd say Ez-me if there isn't an accent over the E, Ez-may if there is. However I know a little girl whose name is spelt Esmee (no accent) and her mum pronounces it Ez-may - it seems counter-intuitive to me, but I go along with their chosen pronunciation because it's her name, not mine!

RosemaryHoight · 16/03/2018 22:41

I'd say ez-may. I do think it's a lovely name either way.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 16/03/2018 22:42

Ez-mee
