Inspired from the pleb thread
Those of you that hate the name angel

How do you feel about angela?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Love it Smile Due a comeback IMO.

chezmk1988 · 05/03/2018 22:20

I find it quite middle aged but I like Marion and same has been said about that. It's not a bad name.

chezmk1988 · 05/03/2018 22:20

It's the nn Angie that put me off

FairyFantastic · 05/03/2018 22:35

As chezmk1988 says, quite middle aged. But I suppose that's just due to the Angela's I know

AriAliyah · 05/03/2018 22:35

My aunt is called Angela. So I'm fond!

pilates · 05/03/2018 22:43

Dated, sorry dislike

upsideup · 05/03/2018 22:46

It will be shortened to Angel to make it more current, which tbh Angela nn Angel I quite like. Naming your child Angel is a bit much.
It could also be El/Ella which is more common

SmiledWithTheRisingSum · 05/03/2018 22:52

Angeline
Angelina

Nicer imo

Afternoon · 05/03/2018 23:16

Angela could have nickname Annie.

Sophronia · 05/03/2018 23:20

I also think it’s due a comeback. Angie is kind of cute.

augustusglupe · 05/03/2018 23:26

My sister in law is called Angela. Shes always been Angie to us and she’s lovely!! And I like the name anyway.

tethersend · 05/03/2018 23:38

I've got a 9yo Angie so I'm in Grin

MollyHuaCha · 05/03/2018 23:54

If it's good enough for Angela Merkel, it's good enough for me.

pipilangstrumpf · 06/03/2018 08:15

Beautiful name

HuskyMcClusky · 06/03/2018 08:24

It’s actually a really pretty name, but the number of 40+ Angies I know makes me ‘read’ it as frumpy and dated, and puts me off.

See also: Karen, Julie, Melissa, etc.

Minus2 · 06/03/2018 08:27

Prefer it to Ivy, Violet, Elsie etc.

pipilangstrumpf · 06/03/2018 08:40

But current kids won't have the 'frumpy' association.

HuskyMcClusky · 06/03/2018 08:43

That’s true, pipi

Beetle76 · 06/03/2018 09:03

I think it’s a lovely name but I’ve been listening to The Lumineers a lot again.

ChocolateCrunch · 06/03/2018 09:07

It's a lovely name, I like it.

17caterpillars1mouse · 06/03/2018 11:09

I still find it a bit dated, plus doesn't everybody have an auntie Angela? Haha

I love Angelina and Angeluca though

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/03/2018 11:45

I like Angela.

MissMoodyMoo · 06/03/2018 12:18

I love Angelina!

emberflames · 06/03/2018 12:21

I do still find it a little dated I'm afraid. I much prefer Angelina or Angelica

Jadetreesbringluck · 06/03/2018 12:29

I may be biased but I love it!
