Lachlan? I hear two different pronunciations and I know which one I would use. But I want to see if I would be constantly correcting people!

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 05/03/2018 18:59

Actually it sounds more like lock-lun rather than lock-lan when it comes out of my mouth.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 05/03/2018 18:59

Lach-lan (soft kh)

IrnBruTortie · 05/03/2018 19:00

I had a boyfriend Lachlan once. He pronounced it Lach-Lan With the Lach as in Scottish Loch, but with a more A than O sound. I love the anme, and might have considored it, if I didnt have an ex called Lachlan!!

Lacklun

NotLinkedInSnowedIn · 05/03/2018 19:03

Laklun. I find it quite difficult to say. Prefer Lorcan.

Loch- lun (as in Scottish lake)

mintich · 05/03/2018 20:10

So now we have 3 pronunciations! So the two I know are Loch-lan and Lack-lan. I'm Scottish and seems like younger Scottish people use Loch-lan and the older generation use Lack-lan

It's lock-lun in Australia.

I watch a Scottish Youtuber who pronounces it lack-lan though. It was the first and only time I'd heard that.

ChocolateCrunch · 05/03/2018 20:18

Lacklan, only because I know one who pronounces it this way. He's 15.

UsernameInvalid66 · 06/03/2018 15:23

I want to say Lach-lan (like German "lachen") but I've never met anyone with that name, or heard how anyone with that name pronounces it!

Rainbowbright17 · 06/03/2018 15:44

I'm Scottish, in my 40's & id pronounce it as Lach-lan. Lovely name!

lilydaisyrose · 06/03/2018 15:48

I'm Scottish, in my thirties and would pronounce it as Lach-lan (the 'ach' as in loch with an 'a')
