We’ve hit a bit of a stalemate on the following names, two I love, two DP loves. Which would you choose and why?

Beatrice / Aaliyah / Christabel / Tabitha

Thank you!

Aaliyah is awful, Beatrice always sounds wet to me, I like Christabel (def this spelling) and Tabitha.

eurochick · 24/02/2018 08:00

I only really like Beatrice out of those.

MammieBear · 24/02/2018 08:05

Christabel - whom her father loves so well!

chezmk1988 · 24/02/2018 09:06

Beatrice is my favourite on that list although I prefer beatrix

StatelessPrincess · 24/02/2018 09:25

Aaliyah is lovely but almost always mispronounced by English speakers and a bit of an odd choice unless you are Arab or Muslim IMO. I like Tabitha and Beatrice, prefer Beatrix though.

Thank you everyone!! Beatrice and Christabel are my favourites. Aaliyah and Tabitha are my DP’s favs. Your comments have been fab and really help, fingers crossed a decision by the end of the day :)

Christabel is gorgeous - I know a lovely young Christabel nn Christy.

Charismatictac · 24/02/2018 12:13

Love Christabel and Beatrice.

Tabitha is a bit omg i'm so coool, but it's 'ok'

Aayliah or however it's spelt is bad.

greendale17 · 24/02/2018 12:15

Christabel is lovely, but for me I’d spell it ‘Cristabel,’ without the h

^That spelling is a bit chavvy

MiffedMummy · 24/02/2018 12:16

Tabitha ❤️

MikeUniformMike · 24/02/2018 12:47

Not Aaliyah.

flumpybear · 24/02/2018 13:07

Definitely not
Tabitha (because I have one and
Don't want
It
To be
Too popular! Wink)

PutYourSlippersOn · 24/02/2018 13:28

Hate Aaliyah and Christabel. Aaliyah seems made-up and Christabel is just not nice.

Tabitha is a bit old-fashioned and reminds me of a cat.

Beatrice is lovely. I would 100% go for this. Timeless.

Mrsknackered · 24/02/2018 13:29

I think Christabel is dire. Beatrice is okay. Like Tabitha. Love Aaliyah.

Mrsknackered · 24/02/2018 13:30

@PutYourSlippersOn by made up, do you mean a foreign name?

LoveB · 24/02/2018 13:30

Tabitha!

PutYourSlippersOn · 24/02/2018 14:11

Mrsknackered No. I mean it seems like someone's attempt to make Leah more interesting and modern. It's not as traditional as the other names that the OP suggested.

StatelessPrincess · 24/02/2018 14:24

It's not as traditional as the other names that the OP suggested Aaliyah was being used as a name 1400 years ago. Just not in Britain.

AdultHumanFemale · 24/02/2018 14:37

Ha ha, another teacher here, have taught a couple of mouthy and disruptive Aaliyah's as well, as well as others with variations on the spelling.
Tabitha and Christabel are my favourites.

daisypond · 24/02/2018 14:52

Aaliyah - I'd assume you were Muslim/Arabic, but it is nice. Christabel - I think of the Coleridge poem first, so a literary link - but it's also nice, and unusual. I like Beatrice, but I'm not keen on Tabitha - a bit "servanty".

MyNewBearTotoro · 24/02/2018 14:54

One of my DD’s is Tabitha so I am probably a bit biased but I love it. I also like Beatrice.

I’m afraid I really dislike Aliyah and Christabel.

PutYourSlippersOn · 24/02/2018 15:09

StatelessPrincess a lot of people who hear this name in Britain will think it's modern. It's not a traditional British name.

Mossbystrand · 24/02/2018 15:20

Aaliyah is an Arabic Muslim girls name meaning 'of high social standing'. It is also the female equivalent of the boy's name Ali. I hope this information helps.

Tessermee · 24/02/2018 15:36

Love Tabitha (Tabby or Tabs are such cute nn when they’re little) Beatrice is ok (Bea, Bibi or Biba as nn)
Not so keen on Christabel and really don’t like Aaliyah.

DramaAlpaca · 24/02/2018 21:15

Christabel or Beatrice for me.

I don't like the others at all.
