Could I please ask your opinions on the name Peter? It's a family name that would be nice to use and is growing on me, but I think it is a little unusual in the sense that it's not very common anymore.

It's a great name. My mate has a Stephen. We are not allowed to call him Steve though. DH winds them up by using Ste

Way too dull!

CormoranStrike · 03/02/2018 19:40

Super name, wish I had used it.

Nomad86 · 03/02/2018 20:57

I love it and wanted it for DS but dh wasn't keen. It makes me think of Peter's railway and Peter rabbit stories.

Duckies · 03/02/2018 20:58

Love love love

Thelampshadelady · 03/02/2018 21:02

If we have a boy it’s going to be his middle name as it’s dh and ddads middle name and fils and my grandfathers first name. Don’t love it but love the connection.

UrsulaPandress · 03/02/2018 21:04

My Dad was a Peter. And his dad.

It means rock.

Nothing wrong with that.

I'm not keen on Peter or Andrew at all - and I am a big fan of strong, traditional names - my son is a James, also love Edward, Joseph, Matthew etc but really not keen on Peter!! Sorry!

lovelystar · 03/02/2018 21:29

I love Peter!! I really wanted to use it for my little boy (due next week!) but was the name of my childhood sweetheart so thought it may seem weird Sad

melissagabrielle · 03/02/2018 21:30

I think it’s a great name x

Doodle2907 · 03/02/2018 21:38

My 8 month old is a Peter! I'm not bothered what other people think as I love it and we chose it for family reasons too, but I do get lots of lovely comments on his name.

glitterbiscuits · 03/02/2018 21:41

It’s excellent.

wheredidallthelovego · 03/02/2018 21:44

I like it 🙂

pilates · 03/02/2018 22:07

It’s ok for a middle name

willdoitinaminute · 03/02/2018 22:25

I have a Pete. Named for family reasons, I was a bit Luke warm about it but then realised all of the Pete’s I knew were laid back lovely men so warmed to it. DS has followed his namesakes and is definitely a “rock”. Since he’s the only one in his year he’s never had a nickname unlike the multiple Williams, Georges or Harry’s.

NewYearNiki · 04/02/2018 11:25

Love it

carringtonm · 04/02/2018 12:09

I know a 10 month old called Peter. It's not a name I'd pick personally, but certainly nothing wrong with it. If you like it then go for it!

BaffledMummy · 04/02/2018 13:11

Love it! Every Peter I know is lovely although to be fair I don't know any under 35, however I think a little Peter would be a lovely change. It's quite timeless I think and doesn't really date.
