Trying to narrow down names. Honest opinions please. We don't know if we're having a DS or DD.

Girls

Clara
Pearl
Rosa
Marianne
Elizabeth (DH hates this one for some reason)

Boys

Gene (DH wants Eugene, but I've told him it's not happening)
Rudy (I think this would look daft as a stand alone name on birth certificate though, and I'm not using Rudolph!)
Emett
Alexander
Lorcan (I love this, but DH says it sounds like locustGrin)

Thoughts appreciated pleaseSmile

Rosa Elizabeth would be nice or Clara Rose? However if your dh is adamant he really doesn't like Elizabeth them it wouldnt really be fair to use it. It's important you both agree and both like it.
Clara is also pretty. Would you pronounce it
Cl-ah-ra or Cl-air-er.

Lorcan Alexander for a boy.

TatianaLarina · 26/01/2018 17:20

Lorcan and Marianne. (Like Alexander too).

MammieBear · 26/01/2018 17:29

All lovely names you both have good taste, if not Lorcan how about Lachlan? Elizabeth is Lovely but can be perceived as a bit blah... How about Eliza? Has been around enough to stand on it's own, Enoch is biblical so perhaps he prefers Elijah which Elliot is a variant of, you might like Rudyard for Rudy Nn? Eugene is lovely I do think of the grease character though, but just think of golden age Hollywood.

Ithinkifoundit · 26/01/2018 18:03

I did think of Clara Rose awwlookatmybabyspider I think I prefer Clara Marianne though. In fact Clara is probably my favourite of the girls. We would pronounce it Cl-ah-ra

I love Lorchan, but it's not happening. DH hates itSad

Quite pleased by all the positive responses for Eugene. It's DH favourite out of them all. Thank you Mammiebear We were kind of going for golden age Hollywood (Gene Kelly, Clara Bow) I'm also a massive Gene Wilder fan and one of my favourite bands growing up was called GeneSmile

Rudyard is really nice. I actually really like Enoch (DH is obsessed with it after watching Boardwalk Empire. I'm scared people will think of Enoch Powell though? Not a comparison you want for your child!

Rosa Elizabeth or Rosa Pearl.
I like Rudy, but not Rudolph. You could use Rudyard !

TwigTheWonderKid · 26/01/2018 18:36

Ellis is a unisex name Ithinkifoundit so you could both use it. Think how cute (but admittedly, slightly confusing) it would be if your boy Ellis and her girl Ellis grew up and got married!

Mulch · 26/01/2018 18:39

Pearl and rudy

AccrualIntentions · 26/01/2018 18:41

I like Clara and Alexander

mishfish · 26/01/2018 18:41

Clara and Alexander- also a lovely sibling set of names Smile

Meemzinha · 26/01/2018 21:04

@Ithinkifoundit oh definitely go for Elijah if you have a boy! You mentioned you like Eli so the nn would be fine. And it's not overused like Alex/Alexander

I'm just being biased but I LOVE this name and it was one I wanted if I was having a boy.. I'm due a girl though in May! :-)

Meemzinha · 26/01/2018 21:12

@Ithinkifoundit also.. Ellis is the name of my younger sister.. She's in her mid twentys so it's not a new thing! But she doesn't meet many girls with the same name.

I've always thought it's such a beautiful name and always been baffled as to why it's a guys name... It's very similar to Alice.

Pemba · 27/01/2018 05:17

Rosa and Marianne both gorgeous. Clara nice too, although the old clair-a pronunciation is nicer and softer - like Clara Bow used! Elizabeth is a good classic name with lots of options for shortenings, and Eliza is lovely. I only dislike Pearl - the meaning is lovely, the sound of the word not so much, and a bit old ladyish.

pipilangstrumpf · 27/01/2018 08:12

Marianne
Clara

Lorcan
Gene

Alexander is a good middle name. I wouldn't use it as first name. There are enough Alexes out there imo.

Emilybrontescorsett · 27/01/2018 11:08

I like Clara and Emmett and Alexander.

areyoubeingserviced · 27/01/2018 13:05

Alexander

Smoliver · 27/01/2018 17:31

DH wants Eugene, but I've told him it's not happening I love the name Eugene! Grin Guilty pleasure name for me!

Anyway, from your lists, I like Clara, Pearl and Rosa and Gene, Emmett and Alexander.

If I were to narrow it down to one, I'd choose Pearl and Gene.
