Katherine (kathy, kitty, betty, betsy, reenie, kat, kate, katie...) is the nicest name and has anlot of nn options.

Victoria is very 70s. Vicky is a harsh sound.

Other two are ten a penny.

rainbowstardrops · 13/01/2018 09:05

Matilda nn Tilly

FML2017 · 13/01/2018 09:17

Matilda or Sophie

Helpotron3000 · 13/01/2018 10:15

Victoria

I just think it sounds to best to say

Least favourite is Katherine. That's what all the girls were called when I was at school

ladybirdsaredotty · 13/01/2018 10:30

I love a PP's suggestion of Matilda Kate! We had Matilda on our lists, although it's fairly popular (although I only know 2).

I love Katherine too, I only know 1 child called Katherine (Kathryn actually).

We thought seriously about Victoria but Vicky did put me off to be honest. Again nothing wrong with it but about a quarter of my friends are Vicky or Nicki!!

I personally don't love Sophie, there are lots of Sophies/Sophias, but it's a perfectly good name.

FreddieClaryHorshieLion · 13/01/2018 10:34
  1. Matilda: not as popular as Sophie/Sophia but unfortunately still trending upwards (I believe...?). But it’s gorgeous :)
  1. Victoria : nice! It’s timeless and classy.

Sophie and Katherine are fine but a bit boring imo.

MrsTiggyWinkle3 · 13/01/2018 11:06

Victoria.

Katherine is outdated and would be a weird name for a baby now. Sophie is so boring and a complete 80s/90s name. And Matilda is overly popular and precocious.

MrsTiggyWinkle3 · 13/01/2018 11:06

However, I do love the nickname Kitty for Katherine.

MyNewBearTotoro · 13/01/2018 11:08

I like Matilda and Sophie.

Not very keen on Katherine but I like the nn Katie. Really dislike Victoria.

Sevendown · 13/01/2018 11:58

Sophie but order Sophia

daisypond · 13/01/2018 12:04

Katherine. Victoria. Sophie. Matilda. In that order. I like Katherine a lot and it hasn't been commonly used in recent years.

deptfordgirl · 13/01/2018 12:15

My order of preference is Matilda, Sophie, Katherine and Victoria.

eastlondoner · 13/01/2018 12:24

Sophie first

Then Matilda.

I really dislike the other two.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 13/01/2018 12:33

Katherine or Matilda

twotired · 13/01/2018 12:35

Sophie

MikeUniformMike · 13/01/2018 13:17

Don't like Matilda.

Zazia · 13/01/2018 13:59

I like all of them. Don't get the dislikes for Victoria. I think it's a pretty name.
As for Matilda, I like it but Tilly just sounds awful to me.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 13/01/2018 16:11

Katherine.

rachrach2 · 13/01/2018 20:19

Sophie, Katherine, Matilda, Victoria is my order of preference but genuinely like them all!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/01/2018 20:21

Sophie.

But Katherine if she might be Kate.

RavenWings · 13/01/2018 20:23

Katherine - I like this.
Matilda - I've only ever taught bold Matildas, so it has soured me on the name.
Sophie - I like it, but it is very popular in schools now ime.
Victoria - I also like this. Couldnt see myself using it but it's a nice name.

So, Victoria or Katherine for me!

OverTheParapet · 13/01/2018 20:27

Matilda

LexieLulu · 13/01/2018 20:28

Matilda then Sophie for me.

Katherine is merh

Victoria I dislike, I've never met a nice one

EmmaC78 · 13/01/2018 20:29

Katherine

Bunnyboo88 · 13/01/2018 20:32

I don’t think a Victoria will necessarily be a Vicky, I know three, one is nn Tori, one is Tia and one is Vic. I think Tori is the much much more common nn these days over Vicky.

In saying that, Katharine and Matilda are both lovely.
