What do you think of the name Cheryl ? Or Cherie ?

I prefer Cheryl to Cherie.

Cheryl isn’t my cup of tea but it isn’t horrible. (It’s actually nicer than some of the currently more popular names imo.)

MollyHuaCha · 08/01/2018 09:37

Cheryl, Cherry, Cherie all not great for me I'm afraid.

(But better than La-a.)

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 08/01/2018 11:17

I hate both (sorry). I think they’re dated and horrible. I knew a Cherry at school. I don’t love that either, but I really don’t like Cheryl or Cherie.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 08/01/2018 11:20

I really don't like it, sorry. Not one bit.

annandale · 08/01/2018 11:24

I love Cherry and Charity, but think of Cheryl and Cherie as 50s/60s names which aren't quite at the revival stage yet, like Roger and Valerie maybe. I think Valerie is coming back so you might be ahead of the curve.

Ghastly

frogsoup · 08/01/2018 11:30

Grim names, sorry!

Dolwar · 08/01/2018 11:41

Cherry is the name of one of the girlfriends of the dad in Frasier. Google her and listen to her voice.

HappyLollipop · 08/01/2018 11:41

Terrible, please don't name her Cheryl it's so dated! If you must use it have it as a middle name but definitely not as a first.

MikeUniformMike · 08/01/2018 12:07

Cherelle sounds like a contraceptive

RubyLennoxExists · 08/01/2018 12:13

My bf when I was 5 was a Cheryl - that was in the mid-60's, enough said Wink

AlmostChristmas · 08/01/2018 12:48

I have a friend called Cheryl, we are almost 40. The name suits her but I agree it really doesn't ring nice to the ear!

How do you pronounce it?

Cheryl can be said Shh-air- rule or Ch-air-rule (that's probably a rubbish decipher but you get my drift Blush)

And of course there is also Sheryl pronounced as my first example or as Cheryl Tweedy (is that her current name?) does.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/01/2018 15:10

Awful. In the same bracket as Tina, Carole, Diane etc.

AutumnalTed · 08/01/2018 15:24

Yuck
