Hate it. Makes me think of Cheryl Cole.. yuck.

badg3r · 07/01/2018 22:57

Awful. Both of them. Sorry OP!

Cbaanymore123 · 07/01/2018 22:59

Ohhhh our Baby Cheryl pet.

Please don't Smile

theconstantinoplegardener · 07/01/2018 23:03

Well...I like the sound of Cheryl. It's pretty, to my ear. But it does sound a bit dated now. I think I would only use it as a middle name.

PinkAvocado · 07/01/2018 23:07

I don’t like it. Cherie is a bit better but still not a name I’d choose. However, it’s not a hideous name and if I was called it, I wouldn’t completely hate it.

TabbyCat864 · 07/01/2018 23:12

Cherie is okay.

The 'ie' ending is popular now. Cherry is also a name that could be considered as quite modern.

ThomasNightingale · 07/01/2018 23:16

Names that are not yet on trend can be good, they can be cutting edge and suddenly you find five years on that every maternity ward is full of them. But by my reckoning it’ll be a good twenty years before Cheryl is due a revival.

TeaAndToast85 · 07/01/2018 23:16

Sorry to add to the chorus of nope, OP, but Cheryl feels like such an old fashioned name...and I immediately think of Cheryl Cole Sad

HuskyMcClusky · 08/01/2018 03:39

It is hideous. As are Meryl, Beryl and Daryl.

ChocolateCrunch · 08/01/2018 06:59

Don't like either

AuntieStella · 08/01/2018 07:02

I quite like Cheryl (and think that spelling is way nicer than Cherelle)

Cherie is too associated with Blair for me.

HuskyMcClusky · 08/01/2018 07:39

I know an adult Cherrill, which is even more unattractive.

Farmerswife36 · 08/01/2018 07:58

Oh dear hearing that adult Cheryl is even worse Sad

The comment that your child will have to contend with girls with popular pretty names at school made me smile as Agnes, Elsie and other previously considered awful old lady names are all the rage again.
It all goes in circles and if you like the name that is what is important . Personally though i am not a fan

Dizzybintess · 08/01/2018 08:05

I have an auntie Cheryl
She has hair like an oil slick and rotten teeth
Not a cool connection to the name xx

gunsandbanjos · 08/01/2018 08:06

Dreadful.

MrsMoastyToasty · 08/01/2018 08:07

Which pronunciation would you use? I like Cheryl pronounced with a "Ch " (as in church) but not "Sh" (as in shop).

pipilangstrumpf · 08/01/2018 08:07

Awful, sorry

Dizzybintess · 08/01/2018 08:07

What about Cher’s real name..... Cherilyn

CharizMa · 08/01/2018 08:09

A name is more than its sound.
If Charlotte is pretty and Belle is pretty than the sound of Cheryl can't be ugly. It's not its sound that makes it unattractive.

HuskyMcClusky · 08/01/2018 08:47

If Charlotte is pretty and Belle is pretty than the sound of Cheryl can't be ugly.

Confused
158ff · 08/01/2018 09:01

I think it's a nice sounding name (Cheryl). Cherie isn't as nice a sound. I like the name Cherry which could be a nn

Gottabenow · 08/01/2018 09:04

Baaaad.

Luckingfovely · 08/01/2018 09:12

Both awful, sorry!

Elllicam · 08/01/2018 09:20

I don’t mind Cheryl actually (with a soft sh). I like Cherry.
