I don't understand how people can be so vicious, vile, bullying and obnoxious just because they haven't heard or don't like the name on a names thread.

Bumsnetnetbums · 09/01/2018 09:59

Freddie
Lke kelly and simon=kellon

Bumsnetnetbums · 09/01/2018 10:02

And whoever said jayden kayden eli-mae are pretentious. No theyre celebrity names or working class. Pretentious to me means trying to be posh or show youre middle class. True class is the use of traditional names. Thomas. William. Elizabeth. Etc. Imo anyway

FreddieClaryHorshieLion · 09/01/2018 10:09

Well... Kellon is better than Silly. ;)

Kelly and Simon => Kimon? Noel? Molly? Imelly? Ellis? Milly?

BattleCuntGalactica · 09/01/2018 10:14

Malcolm
Norman
Clive

TheVanguardSix · 09/01/2018 10:15

Percy? Sodor? Skarloey? Fat Controller?

Have you considered these as options, OP?

paxillin · 09/01/2018 11:29

Tudor? A bit short. Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg?

pepperpot99 · 09/01/2018 13:11

Gomorrah?
Sodomite?
Caucasian?
Gargantuan?
Phallus?
Saxe-Coburg?
Mephistopheles?
Be'elzebub?
Carthusian?
Serengeti?
Appalatian?
Orinoco?

there is, like, literally no end to the names you could choose.....

pepperpot99 · 09/01/2018 13:14

Didn't Alex James from Blur name his kids uber pretentious names like Galileo and Archimedes or summat?

oldbirdy · 09/01/2018 13:17

Why is everyone bring so rude? I have known kids with all these names, they aren't that out there. Fintan in particular is a completely normal name, not at all pretentious.

countdowntothenewyear · 09/01/2018 15:55

Alex James is a cheese maker. He can do no wrong in my eyes.

BritabroadinAsia · 09/01/2018 16:09

Ah. Blessed are the cheese makers.

pipilangstrumpf · 09/01/2018 16:33

Am I also pretentious if I genuinely like a name like Fintan, Tudor or Titus? Or am I just pretentious if I pretend to like them?

Personally I find it ridiculous to label people pretentious on the basis of what names they love.

pepperpot99 · 09/01/2018 17:43

oldbirdy: I dare to challenge you on having known someone in RL called be'elzebub.

pepperpot99 · 09/01/2018 17:44

Or indeed phallus.

TheVanguardSix · 09/01/2018 17:48

I knew a dog named Beelzebub.
Bubu for short.

Bumsnetnetbums · 09/01/2018 17:56

Pretentiousness is false tho pip.
So genuine like isnt but pretending to is. Using them as a marker of class is because only the middle classes do it.

horatioisabrick · 09/01/2018 20:40

Some of the names on this thread are perfectly fine. (Not names like Phallus).

Yes, genuinely misspelled (and not ‘Aleksandr’), ‘offensive’ (Adolf, Benito...) or vulgar or very teaseworthy names (Randy, Fanny, probably also Titus) etc should be avoided. But apart from that?

AgathaRaisonDetra · 09/01/2018 20:40

Fintan Limbang f'tang f'tang ole biscuit barrel
