Something else. But you know that Grin

They would be great names for goldfish.

itssquidstella · 05/01/2018 16:19

Titus. Fintan is quite cool but would be shortened to the ubiquitous (and dull) Fin.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/01/2018 16:22

Fintan.

Something else. Anything but those three. They're totally dire. Never even heard of them being used as names. Wasn't Titus a Roman or something. So I suppose it was once.

Queentitansgo · 05/01/2018 16:30

I reckon this is a dog name post.

Bellamuerte · 05/01/2018 16:31

Titus will lead to teasing because of "Tit". Tudor is a packet of crisps. Fintan is the best of the three but I'm still not a fan.

PhuntSox · 05/01/2018 16:47
Grin

I heard all three used this week (including Titus Salt on R4) and thought they were great names and worthy of MumsNet scrutiny. The nicknames for Titus are indeed unfortunate, which is a shame as its a great name.

Fintan is the one that would be easiest to live with, but it is another Finn isn't it and there seem to be a lot of Finns around. (Probably won't make me popular but it makes me think of a naughty boy)
Titus would need a personality to carry it off but it's quite cool.
Tudor strikes me as being more of a surname than a first name. It is sometimes used as a first name in Wales, and the Welsh form, Tudur is also used. (Tudur is pronounced TID-irr, the irr sounding like the irr in the English word 'irregular')

Quickerthanavicar · 05/01/2018 17:02

Imagine shouting it across Tesco's car park, that may help.

BagelGoesWalking · 05/01/2018 17:04

Quicker 😂

IVflytrap · 05/01/2018 17:37

I like Titus as a name, but don't think it's usable due to teasing potental. Dislike Tudor because of Henry VIII. Fintan is nice. Better than the ubiquitous Finns and Finlays, anyway.

For the next Ford model?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 05/01/2018 17:40

I taught a Titus, when I was a teacher. Nobody mocked his name. He had siblings who also had Ancient Greek type names!

BertrandRussell · 05/01/2018 18:01

Titus isn't Greek......

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/01/2018 18:13

Sorry, Titus sounds like tight arse.
Fintan is indeed, the deer chaser, with owner in hot pursuit, love that video !😂 I like the name though.
How about Tiberius nn Tiber, or maybe Tarquin.

MikeUniformMike · 05/01/2018 18:42

Cornelius?

PemberleyP · 05/01/2018 18:51

Fintan of the three, though I prefer Finbar/Finbarr.

Apparently FIL was almost a Titus! Not sure what happened to that one since he ended up with something along the lines of John.

BellBookandCandle · 05/01/2018 19:03

Loving Titus and Tudor.....I think Tudor is my favourite.

What about Silas, Theodore or Owain?

SuperBeagle · 05/01/2018 19:37

All awful, but Fintan is the least awful.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 05/01/2018 19:50

Titus, from the Greek Titos. Origin tio, to honour.

Hector
Alexander
Hugo
Etc also nice 'old' names

Mrsknackered · 05/01/2018 19:51

Love Titus, Fintan's okay but prefer Finnian.

I had a Titus in my primary school, I don't remember any tit references.

NinonDeLenclos · 05/01/2018 20:16

I actually thought dog chase man was my neighbour.

NinonDeLenclos · 05/01/2018 20:17

They're all marvelous. Am loving Tudor. Although Titus comes close second.

There are lots of Fins and being called Tight is not ideal.
