Hugo is one of my favourite names, but it’s not a nickname or shortform for anything.

I work with a Hugo, we all call him Hugoagogo (no hyphens!) he's a lovely bloke and more than happy to elongate his name.

It's weird how if you have a long name it gets shortened and a short name is lengthened.
