One week old: Eleanor or Georgina?

Hi all, James, Isabella and Charlotte’s little sister is here safe and sound. She is a dote, albeit a nameless one.

We are down to our final two names, no new suggestions please! We love both names and cannot decide.

So what do you think?
Eleanor Georgina
Or
Georgina Eleanor

Eleanor Georgina.

I don’t like male names with -ina -etta or -a etc bunged on the end to make them a female form.

I like strong females names in their own right.

As for Georgette, nine times out of ten people would have to ask again because they’d think you named your baby Courgette...

Raisedbyguineapigs · 07/12/2017 10:01

I love both. I suppose if you're stuck, I'd say don't just choose a name because it goes with the others, as she won't be with them all the time when she's older.

Raisedbyguineapigs · 07/12/2017 10:02

Eleanor was my imaginary daughters name. I would have used Nell as a nickname which she would have loved and definitely stuck with

Blahblahblahzeeblah · 07/12/2017 10:03

I've a James and a Charlotte. Nice names OP!

I think she looks like an Eleanor.

pilates · 07/12/2017 10:08

Congratulations 💐definitely Eleanor

youngestisapsycho · 07/12/2017 10:11

Georgina.... DD2 was going to be Georgia, to be known as Georgie... then last minute she became an Elsie!

MamaNell · 07/12/2017 10:14

I'm an Eleanor but have always been a Nell as a nickname, and my children have nicknames that aren't so typical. I vote Eleanor Georgina!

NoelNiki · 07/12/2017 10:15

She is a darling!

I think Georgina as it is more rare and a beautiful name.

I love your other dc names too!

Although I think she really looks like an Alexandra

musicmaiden · 07/12/2017 10:19

I don't know why people assume a diminutive needs to be used anyway? Ellie/Ella is little over-popular, but Eleanor in full is not IME. And it's a lovely, elegant name.

AnyaMoondial · 07/12/2017 10:54

She is beautiful - congratulations! They are both wonderful names, Georgina is my favourite. There are a lot of Ellie's now which Eleanor might shortened to.

FizzyGreenWater · 07/12/2017 12:55

I'm the other ways around - I'd say Georgina fits better!

There is such a glut of El names that are popular that Georgina seems more classic. But, I love Nell and don't really like Gina or Georgie as much.

FizzyGreenWater · 07/12/2017 12:56

The one I would have put with your other names is Josephine, with Posy or Josie for short.

FizzyGreenWater · 07/12/2017 12:56

Oh sorry! No new suggestions. Apologies!!!!!!

WheresTheEvidence · 07/12/2017 13:00

I'm a Georgina so if gets my vote

IHeartDodo · 07/12/2017 13:05

Eleanor - another here who doesn't like girl's names that are the version of boy's names (like henrietta, harriet etc)

Joinourclub · 07/12/2017 13:12

I prefer Eleanor, and love the nicknames Nora and Nan.

But I think Georgina goes better with the other names.

EmmaC78 · 07/12/2017 13:14

I like both but prefer Eleanor.

Yousername · 07/12/2017 13:15

I'm an Eleanor too, wasn't very popular when I was grown up. I'm mostly called Elle.

My vote it Eleanor Grin

User45632874 · 07/12/2017 13:42

Hi, am not really going to be able to help you but just to say that I have an Eleanor and the name has proved really versatile - Eleanor, Elle, Ella, Ellie. I am really biased but have never regretted choosing her name.
However,
I am expecting dd3 (all being well) and Georgina/Georgiana is currently top of our list so think this is a beautiful name too. Both names will suit her siblings names - good luck with choosing - it is a difficult choice but I don't think you can go wrong either way!

NinonDeLenclos · 07/12/2017 13:52

Shweet baby. Dislike Eleanor and Georgina but dislike Georgina less.

Eleanor is a ghastly name and I don't know why it's so popular. It sounds like Eeyore to me.

glitterbiscuits · 07/12/2017 14:18

Georgina. She looks like a Georgina.

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/12/2017 14:22

Georgina Eleanor

Sidsreadingdiary · 07/12/2017 14:46

Looks like you are on to a winner either way. They are both lovely names. I love Eleanor, and if it helps my 4 year old DS looked at your baby's photo, and without any prompting, said "ahh, it's baby Ellie".

Congratulations on your beautiful baby.

LarkDescending · 07/12/2017 16:26

Georgina Eleanor for me. (I ought to love Eleanor, but find myself wishing it was Helena).

Congratulations - she's gorgeous!

Auvergne · 07/12/2017 16:27
