Honest opinions on Shay for a baby girl please

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NotWeavingButDarning · 05/12/2017 11:17

No. Awful. Sorry.

Sirzy · 05/12/2017 11:18

I have never heard it for a girl. It’s popular locally for boys but even then not my cup of tea

chiaseeddisapointmentagain · 05/12/2017 11:18

I've heard a lot worse on here.

RavingRoo · 05/12/2017 11:18

Shay is a very popular Indian boy’s name.

RavingRoo · 05/12/2017 11:18

As is Jay

Saladd0dger · 05/12/2017 11:19

I know a few boys called shay. My friend called her little girl Shayla

haba · 05/12/2017 11:21

People will just associate it with Tirion's whore. Not what you want them to be thinking of...

Erica891 · 05/12/2017 11:21

Nope. Maybe Shayla or Shayna, latter pronounced as "sha-i-na"

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 05/12/2017 11:24

Shay Mitchell (PLL). Her "Shay" is short for Shannon though.

Depends where you are OP.
Shay/Shea/Sé is a popular boys name in Ireland.

Mrsknackered · 05/12/2017 11:36

I knew quite a few boy and girls Shay/shea's (School years in south east london)

I prefer it for a boy, but if you love it, use it. I would spell it Shea though Smile

Kursk · 05/12/2017 11:57

Shay no unless it’s short for Shantae. In which case I would shorten to Tay.

PersianCatLady · 05/12/2017 11:59

I have only ever heard someone called Shay when it is their surname.

Tubbyinthehottub · 05/12/2017 11:59

I only know it as short for Seamus.

NataliaOsipova · 05/12/2017 12:00

Awful - sorry!

Whythesnoring · 05/12/2017 13:46

Not a fan sorry

Smoliver · 05/12/2017 15:18

I like it. Think it's a good unisex name for a girl

thepatchworkcat · 05/12/2017 15:20

Have only come across it as a boy’s name.

Patal · 05/12/2017 17:27

I love Shay but have a little cousin called Shae so out of the question for me.
I’ve known little girls called Shay as a nn for Shaylee/Shaylee and Shayla

SylviaTietjens · 05/12/2017 17:28

Wasn’t there a prostitute in GoT called Shay?

Wishfulmakeupping · 05/12/2017 17:29

Thought it was a boys name

badg3r · 05/12/2017 17:34

I like the way it sounds but not how it looks. The Shea spelling reminds me of shea butter too.

17caterpillars1mouse · 05/12/2017 17:58

Ive only ever known male Shea's. I'm not a fan at all though on either or not it girl spelt either Shea or Shay

Cakescakescakes · 05/12/2017 17:59

It’s a boys name. Common in Ireland but spelt different obviously.
