Do they rhyme in your accent?

MonkeyJumping · 04/12/2017 15:42

Yes, they're Dan-yul and Sam-yul to me.

LaContessaDiPlump · 04/12/2017 15:42

Dan-yul and Sam-u-el. Nope Grin
Sort of a southern English/Welsh/international English accent here though, so ignore me!

Kenworthington · 04/12/2017 15:43

Similar but they don’t really rhyme as such

grendel · 04/12/2017 15:44

They very nearly rhyme.

It's sort of Dan-yul and Sam-yu-ul

MrsJayy · 04/12/2017 15:45

Yes i would say Danual Samual and if the names get shortened it will be here comes Danny&Sammy very rhymey

MikeUniformMike · 04/12/2017 16:27

Danny and Sammy don't rhyme but are quite similar.

Daniel and Samuel rhyme if you are French.

I say them as Dan-yul and Sammy-wul.

ByThePowerOfRa · 04/12/2017 16:30

They nearly do.

Battleax · 04/12/2017 16:30

Pretty much, yes.

Trialsmum · 04/12/2017 16:34

Almost.

ImogenHeat · 04/12/2017 16:37

Yes, Dan-yil, Sam-yil (that kind of vowel at the end that could pass as an I/E/U/whatever as it's not really pronounced if that makes any kind of sense).

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 04/12/2017 16:38

They sounds vey rhymey to me too and Dan and Sam said it quick succession is just tying my tongue up. Grin

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 04/12/2017 16:39

They don't rhyme but they have assonance

Amber0685 · 04/12/2017 16:39

No southern with a bit of Australian accent

Ontopofthesunset · 04/12/2017 16:50

Not to me. They're Dan-yul and Sam-yu-ul (or Sam-yool). Samuel has another very short syllable but mainly Daniel has a short vowel and Samuel a long one.

Ohyesiam · 04/12/2017 17:00

Almost

BackforGood · 04/12/2017 17:08

A pedant wouldn't say rhyme, I guess, but yes, they sound similar enough that we all know what you mean.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/12/2017 17:08

Almost. Too close for brothers.

ferrier · 04/12/2017 17:20

@ImogenHeat It's called schwa.

Sophronia · 04/12/2017 17:22

Dan-yul and Sam-yul for me.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 04/12/2017 17:29

I would say Dan-yul and Sam-you-ul
So no I don't think they would rhyme. Very similar though and I don't think they would work as brothers.

Lillylollylandy · 04/12/2017 17:35

Scottish.

No they don’t rhyme.

beardymcbeardy · 04/12/2017 17:36

yh pretty much in a scottish accent. dan-yil and sam-yil.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/12/2017 18:04

They don't rhyme, but they're very similar, however, Danny and Sam are cool names. 😄

Atticusss · 04/12/2017 18:05

Yes. I worked on a setting where there were two brothers with those names. Alwaus Daniel and Samuel not Danny and Sam. It drove me INSANE. I couldn't figure out why the parents had done it. They were very close in age and looked nearly identical too.

Buglife · 04/12/2017 18:12

I’d say Dan-yul and Sam-you-ul so wouldn’t exactly rhyme to me.
