My friend is 4 days over due with a surprise baby.

She already has Montgomery Franklin 'Monty', Willoughby Stirling 'Will', Honeysuckle Temperance and Bramwell Marshall 'Bram'

Husband wants Huckleberry Thurston, friend is worried it's too out there and would prefer Sylvester Thurston but isn't sure what short name he woud go by. Other ideas are Peregrine 'Perry' and Archibald 'Archie'

For a girl Evangeline Constance , Clementine Annabelle and Florentine Constance are the contenders.

Friend is sitting with me as I write this .

It's like an Agatha Christie novel

Killerfiller · 01/12/2017 15:53

Is this a piss take ?

dowotmakesuhappy · 01/12/2017 15:54

A piss take? No why? Genuine post I promise!

Jayden Kai for a boy

Lulabelle Tia for a girl

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 01/12/2017 16:00

I like Huck. Although not sure I would because of rhyming potential.

I like Archie as well.

Percival? Percy.

BewareOfDragons · 01/12/2017 16:00

Poor kid.

dowotmakesuhappy · 01/12/2017 16:06

Yes the names are a little different but they are names that have been around for decades, not made up names. If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. My friend is asking for advice and not to be insulted.

I’m not sure why your friend thinks Huckleberry is too out there when her daughter is called Honeysuckle!

I met a boy called Huckleberry the other week and it just seemed awful-Sylvester would end up as Sly. Archibald is ok.

The girls names are ok apart from Florentine.

Whythesnoring · 01/12/2017 16:17

Huckle berry is too out there ..but sylvestor and honeysuckle are tame? Grin

Whythesnoring · 01/12/2017 16:18

Jayden Kai Grin Grin Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/12/2017 16:19

I hate girls names that are cutesy and the nn is cutesy too. What if she wants to be a lawyer or a lorry driver? At least the boys names can be shortened to something vaguely normal.

DullAndOld · 01/12/2017 16:20

nobody would call their daughter 'Honeysuckle' unless they were broken.
that poor child.

oldlaundbooth · 01/12/2017 16:21

What are the actual choices?

Whythesnoring · 01/12/2017 16:21

I like the girls names, minus the one tht sounds like a toothpaste brand

RickOShay · 01/12/2017 16:24

Genevive

Honor

Alexandria

Desiree

Whythesnoring · 01/12/2017 16:26

Confused not desiree

mrspatel77 · 01/12/2017 16:35

Please no more Jayden's!!!

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 01/12/2017 16:40

Huckleberry 'Huck' Thurston is much better than Sylvester Thurston. What about Humphrey Thurston? The first two girls names are the best I think. I associate Florentines with Christmas chocolates.

BabyOrSanta · 01/12/2017 16:53

I actually quite like the name Thurston.
Plus autocorrect doesn't change it to anything weird

I agree about the rhyming potential with Huck although I'm sure some could pull it off

IVflytrap · 01/12/2017 17:09

For a boy, how about:
Hector
Heath
Henry
Hugh
Samuel
Silas
Seth
Percival / Percy
Perry (as a standalone name)
Arthur
Ernest

For the girls, Evangeline is OK. As is Constance. I quite like Annabel, without the additional unnecessary -le added to the end.

Lucia
Lina
Caroline
Clarissa
Cordelia
Flora
Eleanor
Evanthe
Leonor
Marina

SnowyPolarBear · 01/12/2017 17:32

I don't like Archie. I think Perry is really nice.

I like Clementine most out of your girls names.

For everyone wondering if this is a 'real' post, the OP has asked for advice on these names, not comments devoid of any comment on the names suggestedSmile

SummatFishyEre · 01/12/2017 17:34

Peregrine is the only nice boys name. What about florentina instead of florentine?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/12/2017 18:01

I think the ''out there ship" has well and truly left the dock, so I think Huckleberry will be fine

countycouncil · 01/12/2017 19:25

I'd advise your friend to go back to the drawing board. It's not fair to call a kid any of those names.
