My friend is 4 days over due with a surprise baby.

She already has Montgomery Franklin 'Monty', Willoughby Stirling 'Will', Honeysuckle Temperance and Bramwell Marshall 'Bram'

Husband wants Huckleberry Thurston, friend is worried it's too out there and would prefer Sylvester Thurston but isn't sure what short name he woud go by. Other ideas are Peregrine 'Perry' and Archibald 'Archie'

For a girl Evangeline Constance , Clementine Annabelle and Florentine Constance are the contenders.

Friend is sitting with me as I write this .

I love Evangeline.

Doesn't Bear Grylls have a son called Huckleberry? I quite like it and prefer it to Sylvester.

deptfordgirl · 01/12/2017 19:48

Not sure why people think Evangeline or Clementine are 'our there'. Both quite well known I thought.

Myneighboursnorlax · 01/12/2017 19:51

I think Huckleberry is too close in sound to Honeysuckle.

Laniakea · 01/12/2017 19:54

Huckleberry & Honeysuckle are the names of my cats.

By the by.

SuperBeagle · 01/12/2017 20:19

I'd rather be called Jayden than be called Honeysuckle.

All of these names are absolutely awful.

stopbeingadramallama · 01/12/2017 20:22

Please tell them to get a fucking grip.

LesLavandes · 01/12/2017 21:07

Hahahah

DiegoMadonna · 01/12/2017 21:27

I actually quite like Huckleberry! But it does sound a bit too similar to Honeysuckle.

Although I refuse to believe anyone actually has a daughter called Honeysuckle.

I know a 7 year old called Jonah huckleberry. He goes by the name of Hucky. It actually really suits him and I quite like it as a name. It is a 'kid' nn though I think. I can't really see an adult Hucky. As it happens he has a younger brother who is also called Willoughby!

For a girl, I'd definitely go with Clementine. It's a lovely name and can be shortened to Clemmie when small and Clem when older. Although I'm sure there are more possibilitis for nn too.
Op, tell your friend I think her kid's names are fantastic. I love originality with names without being too out there. Tell her good luck with the new baby too! Flowers

RickOShay · 01/12/2017 21:42

I do know somebody who has Honeysuckle as a middle name.

badg3r · 01/12/2017 22:56

Peregrine Thurston
Evangeline Constance

They go well with the other kids' names. Perry and Eva are pretty normal sounding for everyday use. Congrats to your pal!

dowotmakesuhappy · 02/12/2017 07:04

Has nobody heard of Honeysuckle Weeks??

Thank you to those of you who have actually been kind about the names. Those who haven't, how about you share your kids names so we can take the piss too?

I love Huckleberry!

And Clementine is by far the nicest name on the list.

pipilangstrumpf · 02/12/2017 09:47

Archibald is really awful imo.

Huckleberry is quite cool. I think Bear Grylls has one.

Theducksarenotmyfriends · 02/12/2017 09:56

Huckleberry is lovely. Sylvester would be shortened to Syl probably. What about Buckley? Love Archie too.

LaBelleSausage · 02/12/2017 10:52

I adore Peregrine

daisypond · 02/12/2017 12:27

I like all the names and I like the names of all the DC as well. I'm surprised that people aren't aware of Honeysuckle Weeks.
Huckleberry has a great literary predecessor and I can see the appeal. I wouldn't be brave enough myself to use it, though. Maybe as a middle name? All the other boys' name suggestions are fine, too. Sylvester is often shortened to Sly - think Sylvester "Sly" Stallone - but I don't think that's great. Vester? Silver?

FizzyGreenWater · 02/12/2017 16:10

Huckleberry FAR too close to Honeysuckle.

Woodrow Thurston nn Woody.

MammieBear · 02/12/2017 17:17

It's not too outhouse there at all, gives the Nn Huck which is cute. Your friend may also like Percival Nn Percy?

MammieBear · 02/12/2017 17:18

Out there silly phone!!
