Which do you prefer? I like them both equally.

Niall is nice.

Tobias is rather pretentious.

Angelwendy · 26/11/2017 11:55

Are you pronouncing Niall like Nile or Neil?
Tobias is nice and would more than likely be shortened to Toby which is also nice

DiegoMadonna · 26/11/2017 11:55

Tobias. Only because I just don't like Niall.

Icloud54 · 26/11/2017 11:57

If Tobias is going to Toby then Tobias
If not Niall

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/11/2017 12:14

I love Tobias so much but dislike Toby

Niall makes me think of the one from one direction. Not really a fan

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/11/2017 12:15

Tobias. Really nice name.

Glumglowworm · 26/11/2017 12:16

Niall

BabloHoney · 26/11/2017 14:08

Niall. Great name

midsomermurderess · 26/11/2017 15:53

Niall but pronounced Neil.

BeyondThePage · 26/11/2017 15:56

haha - both are my nephews names - the other of the 3 is Aiden.

HolyShmoly · 26/11/2017 15:58

Niall but pronounced Neil

That's a different name Hmm

Niall for me (I also love Aiden)

DullAndOld · 26/11/2017 16:02

Niall, great name, and it's not pronounced like 'Neil' because that is a different name Confused

DramaAlpaca · 26/11/2017 16:03

I'd go for Niall.

Foggymist · 26/11/2017 16:08

I discovered a few years ago that some people pronounce Niall as Neil, when I knew a guy called Niall by his family but all of his employees knew him as Neil Confused I prefer Niall to Tobias and Neil!

lumpit · 26/11/2017 16:08

Niall was definitely pronounced Neil in Scotland for a good wee while. My mid fifties DDad had multiple friends with the name when young.

PickleSarnie · 26/11/2017 16:09

Niall can be pronounced "Nile" or "Neil". It's not a different name. Same name. Two pronunciations. Or will I tell my BIL he's been prouncing his own name wrong all these years?

TheodoreTheChipmunk · 26/11/2017 16:10

Definitely Niall. Tobias would become Toby which is very popular and not nice IMO.

HolyShmoly · 26/11/2017 16:11

Hmm, must be a Scottish thing. In Ireland it's always like Nile.

Niall of the Nine Hostages kidnapped St Patrick, so we learnt about him in school.

DullAndOld · 26/11/2017 16:12

oh! well i stand corrected..:)
I have a brother Niall, it is pronounced by the family as 'N -eye - 'll

But hey pronounce it how you like.

DullAndOld · 26/11/2017 16:13

yes we are Irish also Holy, well Brit-Irish..:)

midsomermurderess · 26/11/2017 16:23

The Niall I know, Scottish, says it like Neil.

HolyShmoly · 26/11/2017 16:35

So it definitely seems like a Scottish/Irish divide. Interesting. I wonder if there are many other names that are like that.

Patal · 26/11/2017 16:36

Love Tobias with the no Toby

Mince314 · 26/11/2017 16:40

Niall isn't pronounced Neil!

I like Niall but I'm Irish so I'm used to it. It's an unusual choice for a baby though.

I find Tobias a bit much. Toby is much nicer.
