Which do you prefer? I like them both equally.

I'm Irish, the Niall/Neil I know is late forties living in the West of Ireland.

Mince314 · 26/11/2017 16:44

All the Neils I know are in their late forties! It's too soon for a revival.

Niall! Great strong classic.

Toby sounds cutesy and will date.

HoratioNightboy · 26/11/2017 19:43

Niall isn't pronounced Neil!

It's Nee-al in Gaelic, hence Neil in Scots. It's interesting to read that Niall is pronounced "Nye-al" in Irish, I didn't know that.

I'm not keen on the "Nile" pronunciation OP, but also not wild about Tobias. Tobin, perhaps?

I have a nephew Niall, pronounced Neil in Ireland. In irish Neil is spelled Niall but in english it's not.

chocolatelimesaredelicious · 28/11/2017 22:25

Niall definitely. Can't move for Tobys at the moment...

scoutcat · 29/11/2017 01:06

Tobias just reminds me of Tobias Funke from Arrested Development and Niall was a chav at high school!

MikeUniformMike · 29/11/2017 14:30

Niall, pronounced Nile. I like Neil and Toby.

dillytilly · 29/11/2017 14:51

RavenWings · 02/12/2017 15:12

Niall is nice but only with the Nile pronunciation. Not liking the other.

Tobias is a bit wet imo.

Joeybee · 03/12/2017 01:43
