Hi,

My DH and I are locked in name negotiations. He thinks it is absolutely fine to give a little boy the initials PNS. I think he will get called "Penis" at school and maybe through adulthood. Thoughts?!

If he is going to be in a school where initials are on show re name tags etc they WHY why on earth would any parent do that to their child? It's so mean.

I don’t think that anyone will make a connection and how often do you even use your initials at school? Labels etc tend to have full names.

Just no. ..

I think I it’s more of a problem if you read them out loud. To me P N S really does sound like penis so I’d say no.

I agree - steer clear of PNS

I doubt no one in their class at school will pick up on it and it only takes one child to notice for everyone to know about it.

Realistically I'm my own opinion initials come up more than we perhaps notice e.g embroided on their PE kits, or if there is another P.S in their school year group or class, middle names may be used to differentiate in school uniform labels.

Kids will find something out of nothing. My OH's initials are ACW which doesn't seem like anything but he was taunted at school with 'he's A Complete Wanker'. Choose a name you like that won't have you forever looking at it and seeing penis.

We never used initials at school. Is it a posh thing? Where you have your monogrammed trunk sent on ahead?

Thank you so much all, debate settled, I won't be giving birth to a little PNS!

An old company I used to work for used First Initial + First 5 letters of surname for usernames and internal documents.

Some poor woman had the unfortunate user name of SPERM everywhere she went.

Your husband is deluded kidding himself.

Someone, somewhere will make the connection. The poor child may even end up with something earthier than 'penis'.

I needed a laugh. You will always see the word penis.
