Hi,

My DH and I are locked in name negotiations. He thinks it is absolutely fine to give a little boy the initials PNS. I think he will get called "Penis" at school and maybe through adulthood. Thoughts?!

It's definitely NOT ok to use PNS as ititials. 😱😱😱

Want2bSupermum · 24/11/2017 21:45

One of my fav girls names is Beatrice and it wasn't possible because of our last name. The initials just would be so easy for teens to tease.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/11/2017 23:16

Yes, Penis here too !
On the grand scale of things, it matters not, but kids can be cruel.
He could end up with the nick name Dick ! 😄

Iwanttousethatname · 25/11/2017 03:31

Well, in theory nt a problem.. As long as no teenage lad after happens 2 notice ! Kids can b merciless !
I went to school with a lad who's initials spelt GOD. He wud drive the teachers insane by refusing to answer by his first name , an me would only look up in acknowledgment of they called him GOD !!!

Iwanttousethatname · 25/11/2017 03:32

Autocorrect!

OldWitch00 · 25/11/2017 03:34

when do people see initials on anything other than luggage?
my dh named my ds (third child) all on his own and guess what his first and middle name gives him BS and his first and last name initials give him BM....he's 32 and never once has he mentioned an issue.

deptfordgirl · 25/11/2017 03:46

I really wouldn't notice. If you're going to get teased about that you would be teased about anything. Honestly I have worked with teenagers for years and never known anyone to be teased because of their name and certainly not initials.

DottyBlue2 · 25/11/2017 04:09

Bad initials:

BUM
WNK
TIT
PMT
FNJ
DFO
HRH
HTH

daisypond · 25/11/2017 10:19

I'd say it was fine. I can't think whenever I use my initials for anything. Otherwise, if it bothers you, why don't you add another middle name, or in fact remove the middle name altogether?

Jinglebellhell17 · 25/11/2017 10:27

I wouldn't. I just test drove it with our older 3 DC ranging from 5-14. All three for it straight away and fell about laughing. So that's a no from me.

Jinglebellhell17 · 25/11/2017 10:28

got not for!

Scallywaggle · 25/11/2017 10:41

Some schools require initials to be embroidered onto items such as PE kits & science coats, would you be Ok with that?

yasmin05 · 25/11/2017 11:09

It sure would get some comments you don't want to hear. Some kids are just like that. Just keep initials simple and cute. :)

MsP0b · 25/11/2017 19:42

I think I'd avoid PNS.

raviolidreaming · 25/11/2017 19:55

You can't use them! It only takes one kid to notice and the rest to follow.

Oddsocksforeveryone · 25/11/2017 20:09

My initials contain a BJ and it's was noticed at school. I've often said I don't know what my parents were thinking.

RagamuffinCat · 25/11/2017 20:21

My Dad's initials are PNS and yes people have noticed the association in the past!

GummyGoddess · 25/11/2017 20:26

Our initials are used as identifiers at work, so not just school you should think of.

DilysMoon · 25/11/2017 20:26

Yep I read penis. At ds's high school they have to have their initials printed on to their pe tops. The Y7 head was at pains to stress the parents should think v carefully about the initials they put on to avoid teasing.

NoqontroI · 25/11/2017 20:28

I see penis too. Sorry. I wouldn't do it op.

toomuchfaster · 25/11/2017 20:29

I sign my initials about a hundred times a day!!! And yes, I mis-read it as penis!!

leccybill · 25/11/2017 20:35

It's quite rare to use your middle initial though, isn't it.
We use initials as identifiers at work (sort, of, eg. Joe Bloggs would be JBL) and I sign my initials on lots of reports every day, and see many other sets of initials and it's mostly just two letters.

My DD's 3 initials spell an animal sound - think MOO or WOOF - it's never, ever arisen as an issue.

ProfYaffle · 25/11/2017 20:42

I'm a bit surprised at how aware of the full 3 initials people seem to be Confused

Me and my dc all have initials that spell 3 letter words but no-one ever notices.

Littlefish · 25/11/2017 20:45

I always use my 3 initials at work.

I would avoid PNS.

ImminentDisaster · 25/11/2017 20:48

We accidentally gave our son the initials BJ. It had hasn't been a problem yet, but it's probably only a matter of time. Blush Just didn't even twig. Could you stick another middle name in?
