AuntieStella · 21/11/2017 21:09

I'd say loud-un

BeeFace · 21/11/2017 21:10

I would say it Loo-don.
Not a name I’ve heard before.

LaBelleSausage · 21/11/2017 21:10

I'd assume it was Loo-don

Scribblegirl · 21/11/2017 21:11

I've never seen it before.

I'd say Loo-den if it were a girl and Loud-en if it were a boy?

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 21/11/2017 21:11

I saw a singer called Louden earlier this year. I'd never heard of him before but I'm sire he pronounced it Loud-on

LaBelleSausage · 21/11/2017 21:11

Actually, I've said it aloud and I say Loo-den

KatherinaMinola · 21/11/2017 21:11

Loudon Wainwright is Looden.

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 21/11/2017 21:12

Sorry - Loudon and sure...really must proof read :-D

SuperBeagle · 21/11/2017 21:14

I would say Loo-don.

OlennasWimple · 21/11/2017 21:14

I'd say it Low-don (though I don't know if that's correct!)

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 21/11/2017 21:15

Fair enough, Katherina sounds much more confident about it than me - I'd believe her instead Grin

Loyly · 21/11/2017 21:16

Loo-den

loobybear · 21/11/2017 21:17

There's a place in Scotland called Loudoun and it's pronounced Loud-on so i would pronounce Loudon the same way.

TheAntiBoop · 21/11/2017 21:17

it's a street near us and pronounced Loud-un

CotswoldStrife · 21/11/2017 21:18

Loud-on

TinklyLittleLaugh · 21/11/2017 21:18

Surely Loudon Wainwright is pronounced Loud in?

Not a fan anyway so wouldn't use the name.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 21/11/2017 21:18

Aaaargh Loud un

BishopstonFaffing · 21/11/2017 21:18

The county in Virginia is Loud-on.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/11/2017 21:20

Went to school with a boy who’s surname this was. Pronounced loud-un. Never heard of anyone

MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/11/2017 21:20

Never heard of another I meant to say*

Astheflamesrosetoherromannose · 21/11/2017 21:22

Yes, thinking as in Wainwright. I'd say Loodon (well more like en/in at the end like London) but OH has found several sources online saying loud(cloud). Thanks everyone!

squoosh · 21/11/2017 21:22

Loud-un.

Name of the roughest pub in the whole of Scotland.

Halsall · 21/11/2017 21:23

Hmmm, I've always heard Loudon Wainwright pronounced as in 'Loud-un'. And I've heard him interviewed a few times, on British and US TV. He didn't correct them so I'd assume that was how he said it!

PoshPenny · 21/11/2017 21:23

It's Loud-un. A friend of mine had a friend called Loudon

KatherinaMinola · 21/11/2017 22:23

Actually, ignore me - I think I've confused myself Grin I think it is Louden.
