Thoughts on girl name.....

Cleo.

Think this name is great because it’s strong, feminine without being fussy, classic and beautiful and with a lovely meaning: glory.

But I have doubts over whether or not it’s the one. (Don’t care about car or cat associations). Worried the “Cl” sound is too harsh?!

Thoughts anyone?

We have one and obviously love it!

She is often mistakenly called Chloe but we just politely correct Smile

Discotits · 19/11/2017 07:52

I’ve come across a few Cleos recently, along with a fair few Coras and Claras. I like it. My friend who named her baby Cleo recently says she gets a fair few people saying Chloe.

AnyaMoondial · 19/11/2017 08:38

I think it's wonderful. I wish I was called Cleo!

Elmo303 · 19/11/2017 09:41

Thanks for your comments, glad everyone likes it so far. It’s between this and Rose, which I also love for its simple, classic elegance. DH prefers Cleo tho Smile

I like it!

MsJolly · 19/11/2017 09:43

I prefer Clara TBH but no idea why

Elmo303 · 19/11/2017 09:45

I like Clara but feel it’s very popular right now. Cleo has more of a unique but not too out there feel to me

Cleo Rose works - why not both?

Elmo303 · 19/11/2017 09:57

Sounds lovely but always swore I wouldn’t put Rose in the middle as it’s such a default middle name. Maybe it’s not a big deal tho Smile

Agree Cleo Rose, lovely !

Cauliflowercheede · 19/11/2017 12:33

I love Cleo. It’s one of my favourite names.

Hate Clara.

MelinaM · 19/11/2017 13:28

Lovely 🤗

WhatKatyDidNotDo · 19/11/2017 16:11

Love it.

Yika · 19/11/2017 16:12

Really love Cleo, for the reasons you have mentioned.

Smoliver · 19/11/2017 17:40

I really like Cleo. It's sounds like a strong, beautiful, classic name to me Smile

I don't think the "Cl" part sounds harsh when paired with the "e-o" part, whereas the "Cl" part of Clara sounds a bit harsh to me.

bridgetreilly · 19/11/2017 18:04

Cleo much better than Rose, imo.

Motherducksaidquackquackquack · 19/11/2017 19:45

It's really regal and feminine.

DramaAlpaca · 19/11/2017 21:11

Love it.

I'd put Cleopatra on the birth cert though.

I wouldn't really Grin

SuperBeagle · 19/11/2017 22:43

I don't like it at all. Reminds me of mystics and cats.

But weirdly, Chloe is my all time favourite name.

I prefer Rose to Cleo.

IWouldBeSuperb · 19/11/2017 22:50

Love it!

And if you wanted a 'full' name with Cleo as a nickname, I know a Cleome (pronounced Clee-oh-me) which I also think is gorgeous!

Ropsleybunny · 19/11/2017 22:51

Love it 💕

Jjpeston · 19/11/2017 23:23

Love it. Cool name - sounds like a strong girl name.

My 4 month old is named Cleo. Like you, i worried it might sound harsh/ unfeminine. I really don’t think this now- couldn’t be happier with her name and i can only assume everyone else is soon going to realise what a great name it is and we’ll be ahead of the curve!! People do say Chloe including her grandparents Hmm but thinking they’ll clue on eventually.
