What do people think of Coco for a girls name? Surname would be McKay.

Thanks!:)

There is also a Pixar/Disney film called coco about to be released, billboards are filled with it in US and it is out in Mexico, it is about Mexico, a little boy and a dog I believe, not sure where Coco comes in. If it is a big hit people may think you took from there.

Prof. Coco McKay sounds brilliant! I’d want to know who that unstuffy academic was!

I love it without the Prof. title too! I mean really love it! It’s a really cool, pretty and strong name.

The issue would be the film that’s coming out I think. I’m not sure which character is Coco. Although by the time she’s older most kids her age will be into something else.

ThatWasNotLove · 06/11/2017 21:56

Ok Coco is the name of the protagonist’s great grandmother - so I think she’s a skeleton.

But I’d go for it if you like it. I still do!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 06/11/2017 21:59

Coco McKay, Private Eye. Love it!

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 06/11/2017 22:03

The one I know is French (and she's really Chloe, but used Coco as a NN).

buttercup54321 · 06/11/2017 22:11

Ridiculous .

buzzingbrain247 · 06/11/2017 22:13

I teach a 16-year-old Coco and she really pulls it off! Fab name Smile

Nono

Themummy76 · 06/11/2017 23:05

I like it

MadameJosephine · 06/11/2017 23:06

I like it, I actually think it works quite well with your surname and much prefer it to Nicole which I think is a bit dull tbh

sonlypuppyfat · 06/11/2017 23:06

Coco the clown?

Ohyesiam · 06/11/2017 23:08

I think she could get famous with a name like that!
Really like it, and I'm a bit of a traditionalist, so Coco McKay must be a real winner.

flissfloss65 · 06/11/2017 23:12

I think it goes well with your surname and is memorable in a good way. Nice friendly ring to it when said together.

namechangedtoday15 · 06/11/2017 23:15

Lovely name. My daughter's friend is Coco. Not a nickname, her real name. She's a gorgeous girl and suits her name, not a massively common surname but not unusual either. Have never heard of anyone calling her coconutty or saying it's a dog's name Confused! I'm not a great lover of unusual names usually, but I love Coco.

Couchpotato3 · 06/11/2017 23:16

We have a Coco. She loves her name, and enjoys having an unusual/memorable name. I hesitated but am so glad we went for it. Ignore the silly comments. People say all kinds of stupid things!

jadekelly · 06/11/2017 23:33

We have a Chloe and her nickname is coco. Only because her little sister couldn't say Chloe.

Geegee4 · 06/11/2017 23:48

We have a Coco- again it’s a nickname for a name that starts with a hard C sound. She’s 4 and I don’t think anyone thinks ‘stripper’ when they see her- ridiculous. She’s sweet and funny and suits it so well.

littlechous · 06/11/2017 23:50

I LOVE it, would totally use it myself but our surname would make it sound like a comedy name Hmm

thiskittenbarks · 06/11/2017 23:50

I know 3 Cocos - all lovely dogs.
It’s also definitely slang for cocaine. There was that song a few years ago “in love with the coco” which was about cocaine and made the term more popular for the drug I think.
But if you like it go for it. Although I think it would be better to go for a name like Chloé with nickname of Coco.

BackforGood · 07/11/2017 00:01

Don't like it at all for a proper name. Could get away with it as a nickname if you had something else on the birth certificate possibly, to give her a choice later in life.

LemonysSnicket · 07/11/2017 00:07

Open star and I think of that bird from Blues House of Imaginary Friends who just says coco

RoderickRules · 07/11/2017 00:07

Mimi nicer with your surname.
Or Kiki.

I think Coco is clunky with McKay.

Bouncingbelle · 07/11/2017 00:11

I just think she will be called cock-o.

Cock-o mckay Confused

doodle01 · 07/11/2017 00:27

Yep not a professional name for a banker, teacher etc - Brazilian gogo dancer maybe.
