Just that really, would love to hear some opinions on these names please! Still not 100% sure about either but they are the only ones we have managed to agree on so far. Other names that I / we like are Oliver, Toma, Rafael - other suggestions very welcome!!

I love Luca.

Ionarocks · 03/11/2017 16:53

Or Luka!

ChocolateCrunch · 03/11/2017 17:09

I like Niko

RavenWings · 03/11/2017 17:11

Luka for me. I prefer the Luca spelling but not a huge thing!

Natsku · 03/11/2017 17:11

Like them both, and the other ones you're considering (Toma was the name of my daydream child when I was younger)

MyBrilliantDisguise · 03/11/2017 17:13

It's Luca and Nico, surely?

mileender · 03/11/2017 17:16

Nope, it would definitely be Luka and Niko!
Luca and Nico are the Italian spellings but DH is from E. Europe where both names are spelt with a K.

Also, Niko is usually just a nn and the full version would be Nikola. Is it mean to call a boy who would be growing up in the UK Nikola??

Niko but def not Nikola. I went to school with a boy called Kelly and it was no fun for him.

OneForTheRoadThen · 03/11/2017 17:23

Maybe Nikolaus as an alternative?

DaisyRaine90 · 03/11/2017 17:27

Luka x

demirose87 · 03/11/2017 17:31

Niko

Chaffinch4 · 03/11/2017 17:34

I wouldn't use Nikola. But both Niko and Luka are nice. I think I prefer the sound of Luka.

RuskBaby · 03/11/2017 17:34

Niko

xhannahx · 03/11/2017 17:34

I know a Niko who is just adorable, but also think Luca is lovely.

Hate Niko. Would pick Luka.

Evelynismyspyname · 03/11/2017 17:38

Niko is used as a full name more and more often in Germany. There are rules and the registrar can refuse to let you register something that doesn't qualify as a "real" name but Niko as a complete name has been accepted for quite some time (I know one of 20, several younger). So I'd say you're ok with Niko on its own. I wouldn't do Nikola if you aim to stay in the UK. Nikolai or Nikolaus are ok though.

Lukas is inoffensive but you will get a lot of people telling you that you've spelt it wrong if they believe it is only an Italian name. Where we live in Germany 40% of boys under 10 seem to be called a variant of Luka/ Luca / Lukas / Lucas but that wouldn't matter in the UK obviously.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 03/11/2017 18:01

I like both, but love Luca. I know a very naughty Nico, perhaps that is clouding my judgement 😂 Spelt either way.

lunabear1 · 03/11/2017 18:12

Love Luka/Luca! I have friends with a dog called Niko so it's a no from me. xx

EleanorXx · 03/11/2017 18:23

Love both but prefer Niko. Don't use Nikola though.

T00much · 04/11/2017 09:30

Love both but Luca/Luka quite common now so would gi for Niko. Unfortunately in the UK, Nikola might be in for some teasing but Nikolai could work

mileender · 04/11/2017 21:02

Thanks all! I think I'm also leaning towards Luka...
