Evanna

Does the name remind anyone of Ivana Trump? I thought of Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood in HP) but then realised it reminds me of Ivana Trump and has put me off the name completely

It's pronounced & spelled differently to Ivana, so no it doesn't.

It's a nice name, I like it.

SinglePringle · 31/10/2017 18:39

I vanna like it but I am not sure...

Fekko · 31/10/2017 18:40

How do you say it?

DramaAlpaca · 31/10/2017 18:40

Grin single

MarthaArthur · 31/10/2017 18:42

I instantly thought Luna Lovegood. I like it.

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 31/10/2017 18:43

I think it's lovely, and nothing like Ivana.

gigi556 · 31/10/2017 18:45

Its pronounced slightly differently but tbh my first thought was Ivana Trump...

TwitterQueen1 · 31/10/2017 18:48

Well of course it's exactly like Ivana! I don't understand how you could think it's different..
evanna
ivanna

The difference is too small for anyone to take any notice of.
Sorry OP - not what you wanted to hear I know.

Fekko · 31/10/2017 18:50

Ih-van-a
ee-van-a

Is that right? It's pretty much the same name with slight difference in pronunciation.

DramaAlpaca · 31/10/2017 18:56

Hmm. I think of ee-VAN-a as distinct from ih-VAH-na, so to me they are different.

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 31/10/2017 19:04

I think of Evanna as 'Ev - Anna', and therefore linked to the British names Eve and Anna (or commonly used here at any rate). Ivana I see as the feminine form of Ivan, and therefore very Russian in origin. So even though the pronunciations are similar, the cultural backgrounds feel very different - the beginning letter and short vs. long 'a' make all the difference. At least I think so anyway! Grin

pastabakewithcheese · 31/10/2017 19:05

Such a lovely name Sad but yeah I figured some might make the connection with Ivana. I wouldn't want to weigh down my LO with a name that potentially is steeped in politics. Stupid political climate.

Oh well back to the drawing board...thanks everyone for your input!

I knew an Evania once, if that helps.

RaininSummer · 31/10/2017 19:09

Sorry to say that I have never heard the name and it did make me think of Ivanna. nevertheless it is a lovely name and by the time she grows up Mrs Trump will be old news.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 31/10/2017 19:14

Evanna is a lovely name !

MikeUniformMike · 31/10/2017 19:50

Yvanna?

RavenWings · 31/10/2017 20:26

Evanna Lynch here too! I think it's lovely.

harrietm87 · 31/10/2017 20:29

If it matters, his daughter is ivanka. His ex-wife (her mother) is ivana, but not really in the public eye as she's obviously been replaced by melania. I wouldn't associate Evanna with the trumps at all. It's a lovely name.

fairgame84 · 31/10/2017 20:39

I know a little girl called Evanna, it's a lovely name. Her name is hyphenated so it's Evanna-Lea and you could hyphenate it with Rose or Mae etc
Fwiw she's a lovely girl and nobody ever associates her name with Ivanna Trump.

bridgetreilly · 31/10/2017 21:17

I would say them quite differently:

Ev-Anna
Eve-ahna

I wouldn't have made any connection with Trump.

Well yeah francis but she's always called ivanka in the media and all her businesses are in the name of Ivanka, so I doubt most people would immediately think of her when they hear the name Evanna. I certainly wouldn't.

Fekko · 01/11/2017 12:35

I thought her mum was Ivana.

Sophronia · 01/11/2017 13:27

Evandra? It’s a Greek name, the feminine form of Evander.

steppemum · 01/11/2017 13:36

I insatntly thought Ivana trump, sorry.
It is the pronunciation.
If Trump wasn't president, I wouldn't care, but he is so high profile I just wouldn't
